I have set up several access points in 2Ghz-B/G/N mode associated with Hotspots. At test time, all is ok (with 1 to 3 WLAN clients).
But when the environment gets crowded (concert hall, waiting hall, etc), problems appear. Clients can't associate, Apple devices don't always "see" the WLAN, and when devices actually associate, most of them can't get any internet page, not even the hotspot portal.
In this situation, when i connect to the AP, i see very few WLAN clients in registration table (like 5), but some are connected and even using it (authenticated in hotspot, with bandwith, etc). In status tab, AP band is set to "2ghz-n"
If I switch the AP mode to 2Ghz-Only-G, problems disappear. Instantly, i get 4x more registered WLAN clients and 10x more bandwith used. I guess the problem comes from the fact that G and N (and maybe even B) clients are badly sharing the AP; limiting the mode to G forces N clients to downgrade to G, and everybody is happy talking at same speed. But there but be a better solution, any thoughts?
AP is typically a 411GL with R52nm and two 4dBi omni antennas.
