different dbi antennas on same card/device

Wed Jan 21, 2015 3:28 am

Hello,
I was trying to find an answer by searching here and google. Sorry if I'm repeating, Is it ok to use different dbi antennas on one device or expansion card? For example, on RB922UAGS-5HPacD with R11e-2HPnD installed in StationBox® InSpot I can put 4 x 2dbi antennas but there is not enough room for 4x5dbi. Is it going to be any advantage to put 2dbi and 5dbi on 2.4 and 5GHZ or should I keep 2x5dbi on 2.4 and 2x2dbi on 5GHZ (I have more clients using 2.4GHZ and devices are going to be installed in the warehouses)
Thank you,
Yuri

http://routerboard.com/RB912UAG-2HPnD-OUT

This can be a better choice for a number of reasons:
-cheaper
-more power in 2.4Ghz
more space for antennas.

Most dual band phones will connect in 2.4ghz first anyway; manual connection for 5Ghz.

I was thinking about BaseBox but I would still need to convert from fibre to coper (going into big warehouses 40000 - 60000 sq ft). Also, I'm thinking of making vertical and horizontal orientation.
