RB951 wireless mode

Tue Feb 03, 2015 12:28 am

Hy everybody

I'm trying to make a home wireless network with an RB 951 and a D-LinkDir 655.
Is RB951 capable to receive connection over wireless, from TP-Link and send to client, over wireless?
Maybe it is a stupid question, but if I set ap bridge mode I lose wireless connection. If a set station mode I can't see Mikrotik radio.

Try ap bridge mode with wds uplink. Maybe it will work if dlink supports it. But it is not good idea anyway.

Connect D-Link to MikroTik via LAN cable, and set the MikroTik 951 to work as AP Bridge. Now you can send wireless signal to your clients. MikroTik radio cannot work as client AP mode. WDS i personally not recomend, because you will lose half of your speed.

Thank you all for reply.
Finally I connected the routers with cable and put the RB951 in bridge mode.

In the other hands I'm not satisfied at all with Mikrotik. D-Link DIR xxx with 3 antennas has better signal.
In station mode probable is better, in routing and firewall and etc.. but for home use is not the best chose.

The signal strength depends on your settings and radio capabilities. Is it 951-2n? You maybe should select other device with 2hnd radio. Mikrotik is not responsible for your inappropriate device selection.
