Long distance links-best solutions?

Wed Mar 25, 2015 10:19 am

Hello guys...this is the story: we have one link on distance of 24km. 2 RB433 configured properly, signal is ok, CCQ great, but i have problems with connection and medium-access timeouts....i tried everything but problem still exists.
My main question is...what can i use to get stable connection between those links? I tried some solutions from other vendors but results were bad....rb433 was best solution atm, but can someone suggest something that will be more reliable than this?
Tnx in advance!

Sorry for lack of info.
I have AR92xx Atheros cards, LOS is clear, TX/RX signal is -54/-53 Dbm, CCQ 89%

Set Wireless Protocol to NV2 and configure NV2 Security.

This sounds like it could possibly be an ack timeout issue.

In winbox, click the "advanced mode" button on the wireless interface configuration, then you will see more options on the wireless screen, but also a new "Advanced" tab where there is a setting for Distance (km)

It's better to have the distance too long than too short, so over-estimate your distance by a km or two.
Remember to do it to both radios.

Don't use old rc version. Update to some more recent version...

NV2 has improved a lot in recent routeros versions. So be sure to use latest version as others suggested. Also use wireless-fp package.
Also NV2 is not using the 'distance' value in Advanced. There is a setting called 'cell radius' which you only set on the AP.
