NV2 speeds really bad with ver 6.27

Fri Apr 03, 2015 4:31 am

hello,

i have 2 Sextants deployed 1.5 kms apart. they are running ROS 6.27 connected with NV2

somehow i just cannot achieve file copy speeds above 5MB/s from machine to machine. the througput in ROS is seen at 120/120 and does not climb above that.

even IPERF shows the Transfer speeds at 32.1MBytes and Bandwidth at 26.8 MBits/sec.

any help will be highly appreciated.

Clarification - are you suggesting it was better before 6.27?

i am not sure.... but is NV2 not supposed to deliver atleast 100Mbps translating to roughly 10MB/s in real world?

NV2 speeds really bad with ver 6.27

Same problem in NV2 with 6.27 and 20mhz. I try multiple configs in 2 sides of the link and nothing (signal-68) and QOS in 10%.. Sxt with tunnel ovpn

NV2 works good in v6.27, the same with all other versions. Maybe you have some other problem with the link.
I like nstreme too, basically because of the lower latency, but nv2 is more stable and nstreme seems abandoned.

We are having the same problems with NV2 in 6.27. One thing we have found is that if every and i Do mean every interface along the path is not at 1 Gig full then speed will drop to lower then 10 Meg tcp however UDP still shows decent throughput.

In our case we had a customer we were trying to deliver 100 Meg to and the radio to radio BW was testing UDP at 100 Meg but when we tried TCP we got a 10/10 connection. The customer interface was at 100 meg. The second we turned it up to a 1 GIG connection. (in this case we put in a dumb GigE switch to handle the radio handoff) the speed went up to 70/70.

We tried changing queues and everything else prior to this.

However on NStream it did not matter what the port was negotiated at it just worked.

Are you on a 10 mhz channel with wireless_fp? 20mhz channel seems to be fine but 10mhz is not good. I went back to the regular package and things improve a lot. I have been in contact with support, but they wanted to know if there was an issue in routed mode. I have not tested as it is not practical on my network.
