We have a MikroTik Metal that is configured in bridge. We want to use it as a wireless adapter for a wired appliance. Here's the basic layout:
-Connected through wlan1 to our Cisco wireless network (10.25.173.30);
-Connected through ether1 to a computer (10.25.173.31);
-Bridge created with wlan1 & ether1;
-We want to use it in bridge mode, because everything needs to be on the same subnet.
If we unplug the computer, the MikroTik can ping everything on 10.25.173.xxx and everything on routed networks (through 10.25.173.1 gateway). Also, we can ping it from computers on our network.
As soon as we plug something on the RJ45 port (desktop, laptop, appliance), it stops communicating through the wireless. We can only reach it from the computer connected on eth1. It still shows as connected to the WIFI, but it looks like it's trying to pass all traffic to the RJ45 port instead of the wireless interface!
If we unplug the RJ45 port, everything works again.
