Okay so I posted this yesterday but I can not seem to find that post anywhere. Ya for me, typing twice!
I have about a year with Mikrotiks and I have found them extremely flexible and cost effective in our business environments. One of my weakest areas is wireless and I am trying to set something up and not having much luck.
Devices:
I have a CRS125-24G-1S-2HnD-IN that is used as the WAN gateway. ETH1 has the WAN and the remaining ports are in a bridge. The bridge has the IP 192.168.11.1. In this bridge are a couple servers, a NAS, and the PCs. I also had a Ubiquity AP but am trying to phase it out with the setup I am discussing today.
I also have a Metal 2SHPn. The config was wiped and the only setup was done by me trying to get this working.
My Goal:
What I would like is to have the CRS125 setup with a point to point to the Metal. Then on both ends (on both the CRS125 and Metal) have said devices act as APs. This way when a user connects they will connect to whichever device they are closer to. All DHCP/DNS/AD needs to be hosted on the CRS125. Basically I need users connect to a wireless network on the metal and pull DHCP from the server connected to the bridge.
What I have done:
I was able to get the PTP to connect with the CRS125 in AP Bridge mode and the Metal in station mode. They have connected. I assigned both ends an IP on the 172.16.0.0/30 network and from both ends I can ping those respective IP addresses. I have set up a VirtualAP on both ends that match. Same security profile. The problem is that from the metal I can not ping or get to the outside world. I also set a default route that pushes anything out the WLAN interface on the metal.
Like I said, I am weak in the wireless area and I am pretty new with Tiks. I am sure I am missing something and if someone could assist I would greatly appreciate it. I have attached the configs with only WAN_IPADD missing and the passwords missing.
Thank you in advance!
