Dude 6.x Server

I've been running Dude 4.0 rc3 for years. just recently we found out about the 6.x version. is it true they've taken out the local server? for those of us not or no longer running mikrotik routers, is there a way to run dude?

Yes, Windows server is gone. Some people (myself included) hope that it's only temporary and it might return later. But no such promise exists from MikroTik, so don't hold your breath.
But since nowadays virtualization is possible almost everywhere, you can make RouterOS VM and run Dude in there. It's even possible for free with either CHR or RouterOS x86 L1.

You can run chr for free just to host the dude server.

it's been years since i worked with a mikrotik device. how might one go about doing this? is there a how-to or white paper on it?

Thanks, that worked great. with just an ip address on the CHR box i was able to get the dude server up and running. so after looking it over i'm wondering if anything has changed? i looks and acts the same as far as i can tell.
