DUDE FEATURE REQUEST:

Ability to specify custom port number for Winbox connections (e.g. to connect to multiple MTiks behind single public IP).

Many thanks for consideration.

...also is there a dedicated thread to post DUDE feature requests?

Another problems with latest RC versions:

When I schedule dude db backup on RouterOS (with
/dude export-db
command), I always get my custom font removed from disk after the operation and not available in Dude any more.

I also noticed that custom MIB, font and image files are contained in backup file, but do not get restored with
/dude import-db
command. I have to copy these files manually afterwards through WinBox and restart the Dude to be able to use them.

Email seems to be broken in 6.38rc30 and 31.
This is what I see in RouterOS log when I try to test email send from an email notification in Dude.
Screen Shot 2016-11-21 at 5.01.08 PM.png
Here is how the notification is setup:
Screen Shot 2016-11-21 at 5.12.04 PM.jpg
I've tried removing all the fields so that it just uses RouterOS Email settings, but no change. I looked in email server logs and it's not even trying to send it to the SMTP server.
When I send a test email from RouterOS using Winbox, it works just fine.

Since 6.38rc30 I cannot add any custom files (images, etc) to the Dude directories.. Even it happens if Dude is stopped and it's directory is changed at another path. I use RB750gr3 - MMIPS. Please help.. the disk1|disk2 switching problem is still annoying on RC34..

I'm using Dude on CHR v6.38rc31 on vSphere server 5.5 right now, because on CCR the stable version 6.37.1 was exhausting memory and CPU.

DUDE FEATURE REQUEST:

Ability to specify custom port number for Winbox connections (e.g. to connect to multiple MTiks behind single public IP).
This is where RoMON comes in handy. Configure RoMON on the gateway MikroTik device and set a password. Configure RoMON on the internal MikroTik devices and use the same password. Then in WinBox, select the gateway MikroTik device and choose "Connect to RoMON" and WinBox will connect to the gateway MikroTik device, change the bottom tab to "RoMON Neighbors" and you will see all the devices listed by MAC Address, with their Identities shown.

If you choose to Add/Set a RoMON device, it will add it to the main "Managed" tab with the "Address" listed as the MAC Address. I then group these under each client's code and then add a Note so I can tell more easily which internal device this is.

Guys, if there any ability to do such thing - connect links not in one point but in edge of object? When i want to draw 50 ports it become such a mess.

May be it should be able to make curves or polylines?

+1 (for multiple links betwee devices, for example)

also, it would be nice to have a possibility to set Interface for both ends of the link (to see that the link is from port 5 of switch1 to port 7 of switch 2)

Currently I solve this issue by putting a static-item inbetween a link.

This allows for
- links with angles
- setting both ends of a link with interface (and stats)
- drawing more than one link between two devices.

Version 6.38rc35 has been released.

Changes since v6.38rc32:

*) Fixed - Dude client stuck on "getting stuff state".
*) Fixed - Disk name were changed on RB hEX if the dude was used on USB flash or mSD card.

For security reasons it's suggested to make backups before upgrade.
http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Th ... ort_export

If you experience version related issues, give us detailed steps how to reproduce problem.

Also thank you all for suggestions and reports, we will take a look what we can improve in the Dude.

I have been using it for years also. But it is very poor solution.

I need multiple links between the same devices also. The idea to make link independently configurable by the endpoint devices / interfaces is the same I had in mind. It is also necessary to be able to replug the ends of the link from one old device to other new device without loosing the graph data.

Now that the Dude supports maps in Webfig, I updated our test Dude from 6.37rc15 to 6.38rc35. A few things I'm seeing with the Webfig maps:

Can't click on a sub-map from the primary map to display it.

Background images take forever to display.

It's not displaying the temperature symbol correctly. It's adding the additional  in front of the ° character. It displays correctly in both the 6.38rc35 Dude client, and in our 4.3 production Dude and Web clients. Appearance label: [Site_Temperature_Display()] °

Guys, in 37rc i get dude works! Thx goes to Pauls
- email support. But i have some troubles now.
1. I put font arial.ttf - its gone. Afetr i connect i see rectangles instead of russian letters. I put it again - wow, russian letters there again. Close Dude for a while. Run again - rectangles again, look into files - arial.ttf gone(whata...) Put it again - works for now.

2. Cant see snmp values on links. If i goes to node in snmp tab i can see speed on ports.
3. I have two monitors. If i open dude on 2nd and open preferences it can jump to 1st monitor. RRRRRR make me mad :)

Version 6.38rc37 has been released.

*) Fixed - default files will be stored in dude files folder if the file system does not support symlinks (fat32)
*) Fixed - avoid going into loop (Dude client could get stuck in loading phase)

Note !

Since dude has received major changes in recent versions, some fixes will be included only in 6.38+
Some bugs might be reproducable only on specific hardware, server and network configuration, etc..
List of recently reported problems:

strzinek - /dude export-db|import-db, and device -> graph issue.
Problem not reproduced, please give us remote access.

celeritynetworks - dude email notification is configured under notifications -> type email. If there are any problems in Ros/Dude email, enable email debug logs, to see where it stucks.
maxkrok - should be able to add custom files to dude/files dir.
doush - minimum polices for user to use dude is read + dude.
sparrow - monitored service types, like cpu, memory, disk... will take more time to reload, this means you will still see device in outage tab even it is recently came up.
Button "remove resolved" will remove only services without active status.

Also will take a look at denser reported issues.

If you still can reproduce problem using the latest RC, please allow us remote acces to your dude server, with
ability to install special debug package on this device, if it's will be necessary. Send all information to support@mikrotik.com,
also describe steps how to repeat the problem.

Reproduced issues:
nje431 - Background image load, ° symbol problem.

Recent feature requests for consideration:

*) Ability to specify custom port number
*) Links with edges
*) Multiple links between devices curves or polylines
*) Specify link port on both ends
*) Can't click on a sub-map from the primary map to display it. (webfig)

6.38rc14 (Release candidate)

my requests

1. all alerts that have occurred in non-active time for such notifications for example between 00:00-08:00, should be added to the queue and be send at the beginning of an active time. If by that time the service started to function, the notification shall be removed from the queue.
alert_email.png
2. If the main map contains several submaps, and added there devices are set depending on (parents), and when the device is not working in the tree above, I should get one notification about device failure which is highest on the tree even if it is on a different submap. Now i have many alerts. Maybe I have problem configuration of the DUDE?
not.pngnot_10.png

no solution for these problems?

Some worksaround. Arial.ttf vanishes when old dude client connects and update itself.... Strange behavior.

Have another request (not onlu dude. capsman too) - autoload fresh versions of packages: analyse devices (caps in capsman) and download in prorep folder all needed files - files/packages on dude and folder pointed in properties in capsman.

Hey Dudes,

What happened to Address Lists?

Ok, that was brief, I'll Edit this up. Struggling with stability on 6.37.1,2,3 on x86, have tried to put our Dude onto CCR but that is also perfing out. x86 is based around SSL / CPU load, CCR is I don't know why. No idea why it's suddenly so unstable.

So trying to move to 6.38.something in the hope stability is there but it appears address lists have dissapeared. :( Can't find any mention of this in changelogs so assuming it's a bug, address list still turns up in /ip firewall address-list but they're pretty useless hanging over there as its our documentation when setting up routers / links in the dude.

Rock and a hard place over here with limited stability on "stable" releases and limited information / changes to core function (bugs) on unstable test builds.

We've got 2900 Access points and routers lulling around waiting for their admins to give them love, but right now.. the love.. it's .. .gone.

Can someone please think of the routers!?

Few quick tests didn't show problem here. Make sure your dude user has the same policies as your script.
Test it with some simple script, to see if problem is not in the script itself.

If issue remains, send supout file to support@mikrotik.com.

When I copy built-in tool to new one, I can't get rid of it afterwards. The copy cannot be removed. It says "cannot change built in (x)", although it is a copy and I can give it custom name and command. It shows star in flag column also as if it was really built-in tool.

Before migrating from version 3.6 to the latest stop us lack of feature allowing to dump the list of devices in the form of a table: [map name where the device is] [device name] [IP address]. We use similar feature in Dude 3.6 via HTTP to export the device list with IP and location on the map to external databases (eg. smokeping). Any plans to add similar feature?

I cannot repeat it... It is permanent.. Please test on MMIPS RB750gr3. On RC44 the same problem... The dude directory is read only or something like that... Other directories - OK... Wrote to support..

UPDATE! All DUDE files are is being rebuit after each dude restart/reboot.. All custom files get vanished after that.. On sd disk - fat32 you can add custom files to the dude directories (images, etc) but after reboot/restart everything is default again.. All logs also get vanished.. Please help!

i use dude v6.38rc43 on new hex and there is maybe bug with RAM eating.
Hex stay up for 2 and half day and then reboot, for this time hour by hour eating the RAM until device reboot.
On dude i have about 1000 devices, monitoring by ping, some SNMP sonds etc.

It happens on earlier versions too.

Hi,

I am running dude 6.38 rc46, the last few builds have not been saving any changes for me, i have added new sites and devices in over 3-4 days and then the dude just reverts back to what it was like previous days ago - very frustrating.

Happy to setup remote access for support to look into it, ive lost several days work and would like a solution asap.

I've been using the dude since the beginning, loving the improvements, but this is a major bug.

Cheers,

Matt

Upgrade from v6.38rc40 to v6.38rc46 on CHR has removed the Dude Package. I had a Dude session open when it upgrade...

Will the Telegram notification support?
Agreed. It would be great if they added HTTP Notification as a notification type with custom parameters.

In the meantime, we created a Google Cloud App, which receives an email from the Dude server, converts the data, and then sends the data to Telegram. Our team will receive the data via our Telegram bot.

I managed to "fix" SSL high cpu problem (Ticket#2016111422000785) by increasing Connection timeout from 10s to 1m in Settings-RouterOS. On CCR it took a couple of minutes to get rid of SSL load after reboot, but it took much more time on x86 (4 cores). The problem was caused by hundreds parallel timed out connections to RouterOS (alive) devices and constantly repeating reconnections. After a successful connection to all RouterOS devices SSL load was gone.

Version 6.38rc51 has been released.

Changes since 6.38rc41

*) Fixed - Changed SSL connection timeouts. SSL connections caused CPU overload
*) Fixed - Minor changes in Dude fonts
*) Added - Dude icon in Winbox/Webfig

The SSL problem should be fixed with this version, please test and report if problem repeats.
Also note that if you have very large network map, with lot of securely connected devices, you will still get relatively high SSL usage by CPU.

maxkrok - we suggest to use only ext3 file system, it's more stable for dude, and more tested. Here only solution seems remote access > support@mikrotik.com

For other reports, please send an email with description to support. Each report is checked individually.

just an ability to make GET/POST HTTP requests. I was surprised when did not found that type of notification in Dude v3 :)

Calling https url with custom uri part with replaceable variables would be enough for me. And it should be usable in functions.
e.g. https://example.com/?api_key=my_api_key&ip=[Device.Address]&service=[Probe.Name]&state=[Service.Status]&another_custom_parameter=hello

PS: enabling/disabling ssl certificate verification would be also useful. Something like CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER and CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYHOST in Curl.

Currently, we use this probe for HTTP and it works great:
Probe Type: TCP
Port: 80
Send: Authorization: Basic xxxxxxxxxxxxxt\r\n\r\nGET /state.xml HTTP/1.1\r\n\r\n
Receive: <input1state>0</input1state>

You can replace send with whatever HTTP request you want to send, and figure what you should receive.
You can use packet sniffer to help you find what is needed.

Using dude 6.38 rc 48 and it works good.
Don't know if it can suit for https stuff...

Regards,
Michael

In my case it still has not been solved, SSL is very high and the CPU stays at 100% all the time. I have enough devices, but in version 6.36 opened and now I could not open the monitoring once.

But I need to send a notification through http request (service is up, service is down). There is no such type of notification as 'TCP Probe'. And it doesn't allow TLS/SSL connection.

PS: option to add custom headers is also a good idea.

I'm getting connection closed on both Winbox and The Dude with a number of users connected to The Dude server.
My only solution is to either get one of them to log out or reboot the machine and hope I get in to what I want before anyone else does.
I'm on 6.38rc51.

6.38rc51 on hex.

Version 6.38rc52 has been released.

Changes since last version

*) Removed - Since default Winbox used in the Dude wasn't fully compatible with all RouterOS devices, we removed it completely.
*) Fixed - Increased default ping packet size to 54bytes - there was some devices who wasn't able to respond with 32 byte ICMP packets, this caused ping corruption.

Note that you can still use Winbox in the Dude, by simply adding it as a custom tool:

Here is the quick example:
http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:The_Dude_v6/Tools

ste - Check if the ping issue remains in recent version, if it does, write to support

Should be fine to autoupdate from all recent versions, just make sure that you run the Dude as administrator. Does anybody else have seen similar problems recently ?

%HOMEPATH%\Desktop\winbox.exe doesn't work (Windows 10) in Tools, works in File Explorer. Ordinary users can place files only inside of their windows profile and each profile has its own path based on username.

Didn't work for rc49->rc51 and rc51->rc52 (as Administrator). I had to update it manually. Also would it be possible to allow update without Administrator rights? Many companies doesn't allow to have Administrator rights. And updating it only by company's network admin makes updating to a higher version very problematic.

Another option would be to keep Dude client unchanged if only server is updated.

Should be fixed in next release:

%HOMEPATH% variable resolve from Dude tool
Typo: "Authetication Failed
Winbox->Dude->Notification->Command:

Reported:
bandwith_test - auth. fail

aTan - Autoupgrade tested with multiple devices, multiple versions, should be something specific.

asik - background image disapear not repeated, remote access will be apriciated !

alfonzz - No the tool should be accessible from your Dude client, this means on OS where the Dude client is installed.

Also note that you can pass arguments to Winbox - IP, usrename, password, so the Winbox tool should work as before.

Code:

%HOMEPATH%\Desktop\winbox.exe [Device.FirstAddress] [Device.UserName] "[Device.Password]"

Devs: thanks for all the work so far, appreciate it! Sorry I didn't reply with update to email notification issue not working. Original email problem (post #104) was resolved. Was originally on CHR. Loaded new x86 VM and email notifications started working so seemed to be something with that specific load of RouterOS.

I can confirm our map background images randomly disappear from disk, too. We are on 6.38rc40 and have had to replace a background image twice and it ultimately disappears from disk. It is missing again now.

In my case works only with this command:

also, if you wrong something in your path, error message shows clearly your password! :(

I confirm this behavior as well. Not just the background image, but also some locally-added device images, such as CCR, RB2011, LHG -- only a few of them, not all of them. They disappear from dude/files/images and have to be re-uploaded. Problem seems to be triggered by release updates, and does not reoccur until next update. Reported this back on October 7.

I can also confirm the maddening "auth. failed" problem running bandwidth test in Dude. Reported it November 12, hoped it would be fixed by now. It forces me to turn off authentication on every device before I can run bandwidth test on it.

macsrwe - thanks for clarifying.

"auth. failed" problem is fixed, but we haven't released version where the fix is included. (next 6.38rc or stable 6.38)

Also please make sure, that all custom files are stored in dude/files directory only, as it is stated in the manual:

Your custom uploaded mibs/images/etc need to be stored in: "(data-path)/files/" directory.
http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Th ... 37_release

Ciambot - also the fix for windows variables is not released yet.

Thanks, I didn't realize that.

Is it OK if we organize our custom images by creating a new subfolder under dude/files, e.g., dude/files/custom-images/, or will that cause problems as well? I imagine the custom images would no longer automatically "take priority over 'defaults' in case of duplicates," but I haven't been depending on that behavior anyway.

macsrwe - Yes you can also place your custom folder under dude/files

sparrow - check if you can receive RouterOS data from that device - under RouterOS -> Interface. You should see the same results as in your link label

"?" will be shown if no data has been received.

Hello everyone,

I want to report a problem with the upload file function in v6.38RC52 on mmips RB750GR3 - in this version and with this device, traditional "drag and drop" does not work, but there is a new button "upload"
Image

because the device has only 15 megabytes of embedded memory, it should be possible to choose the destination disk (SD card or Pendrive)...

Test from Windows / Linux didn't show problems with drag&drop

Maybe some OS related problem. Try to open files window, and drop file in some folder
