New added map always "LOADING..."

Fri Oct 03, 2008 1:14 pm

Hello, I am running Dude V3.0 rc3.
I successfully made three maps and I am trying to add another but unfortunately the new added map shows always the " Loading.." message; I tried in many different ways, discovery runs ok, logs also; if I try to manually add some object it seems to go in loop or does nothing, the object is not drawn on the map.
I searched in the forum and the only thing I discovered is a problem like mine but is in version 2 that should be resolved.
Please can someone help me?
Regards
Alessandro

I have a graphic that does this constantly also. I think you might have a "funny" file but I havn't had time to test. Open the graphic in another program and save it as another format and see if that fixes it.

I will do the same but can't right now.

Maybe next week.

I found the same problem in The Dude 3.0RC3.

If I create a map and set the background image to grid.png, I get "Loading.....".
I can't get the map to work, so I have to delete it.

BUT.... If I create a map with background image set to none, it works.
I can then set the background image to grid.png, and everything is still good.
I can use the map and everything works well.

@ Everybody:

I've again run into the same problem as you describe it in The Dude 3 rc3.
A workaround I discovered and used in prior versions and this one is:

Go to any map, create a submap using option New Map.., give the new map a name.
After doing so, put devices on the new map and delete the submap where you've created it or you can choose to immediately delete it there prior to adding devices. As far as I know it's a working solution.

Version 3.1 update

This looks to still be happening in this newest version. The easiest way to get around this is to do the following:

Create a new map, but leave all the default settings, including the defalt Map Name which should be "Network Map" (I believe this is the most important. I've tried creating a new map with all the default map settings EXCEPT the name and it I was still getting the "Loading..." message. And yes, the backgroup image is set to the default of "None".)

After that map is created, open it to make sure you don't get the "Loading..." message.

Now go back and configure this "Network Map" the way you want them, including changing the map name to whatever you want. The map will continue to open fine at this point.

I agree that creating a new submap from any working, existing map and it never has a problem with permanent 'Loading'. The 'Plus Sign', add map when displaying the map table has never seemed to work...However, due to that problem, its been a year since I tried it that way and I wont mess with my production Dude to test it!
