Dude Alarm System

Thu Aug 02, 2012 7:37 am

Dear All,
Hi;
I very new to the Dude system and this forum.
I have couple of devices being monitored by my Dude system, just a simple connectivity test(ping), and they all seem to be green in color.
Sometimes these devices get red(no ping), but since no sound alarm is set, I can not be notified.
Would someone explain how I can set a sound alarm on the these devices,step by step. I would be glad if you use screen shots.
I want the sound alarm to go back automatically when the device is up again.
Kind Regards
Ali

Dear friend
thanks for your great reply.
I could finally manage to set the alarm.
but I'm facing a problem now, first of all in order to test the alarm I disconnected a device, when the alarm test was OK, I connected the device again, but it's still red in color though I can ping it.
what can the problem be ?
another question is that, I have no idea on the timing intervals in dude. I want the system to play a sound after 3 ping time outs and once the device is back again, I want the alarm to stop automatically.
would you please guide me how to perform that/
thanks in advanced.

please read the page that i linked, at the bottom the picture clearly shows "repeat intervals"

::
from the page:=>
Note: If you would like different notification behaviors for different groups, create different notifications. For example you might have Siren for Servers and Siren for Printers and one of them would repeat 3 times and the other would only run during daytime

The Dude seems to use inheritance of settings. Settings at the global level are inherited by each map, settings at a Map level are inherited by all of the devices on the map, device level settings are inherited by the probes for that device. If you want all probes for your system to have the same polling periods and retry count etc, then set those parameters at the global level. Then if you want one device to be polled more/less regularly make that change on the device settings for that device. If you want only a few probes to be different then change that setting on the particular probes themselves.

Hi All,

I configured sound alarm on a device to trigger alarm when service goes down.

It is triggering one time when the service is down.

My questions: 1-what setup should i apply in order to keep it going as long as the service is down.

2- How can i make it stop when i Ack the device or when service is up again ?

Thanks in advance
