Map links through auto discovery

Fri Apr 25, 2014 9:35 pm

I am attempting to create a map of my company's network. All the devices on the network map have already been created. However, because the number of devices is so large, and the number of connections even larger, it will take a very significant amount of time to create all the links manually. I know there is a way to generate the links through the discovery process, but I haven't been able to find much information about it. What are the required steps for mapping the links through discovery?

I delete all the links and redo most of the devices and create unique device types, device parenting, snmp link types, and new probes anyways. The automap is just the lazy way to get all the data devices on one page. This is how I prefer to use the automap. There is no way to make anything auto and free look professional instantly, but with a bit of work it will function very nice and look great. =)

maybe looking professional isn't the point,
just need the info to be readable

too much customization required out of the box imho
