check_routeros-upgrade.sh - check if there is an upgrade for your device

Wed Feb 22, 2017 12:12 pm

I wrote a shell script to check my mikrotik devices for available updates. It works like a nagios plugin and can be well integrated in different monitoring solutions.

Exampleoutput: RouterOS version 6.38.3 is up to date (Release: Di 07 Feb 2017)
It works over SNMP or SSH and can also check a selected release tree.

More about it at my github:
https://github.com/x70b1/check_routeros-upgrade

Any suggestions?

@MikroTik-Team: There is one question.

What means the date at the upgrade? Its not the release date? Example: RouterOS (stable) has the date 2017-Feb-07 09:52. But it was available at 22 Feb. What is this? The start of the development or something?

Hello MikroTik

I still work on this shell script.
The question about the different timestamps is still open. There are two different dates. What is their meaning? Maybe you would answer it. I would be happy.

Another question is: What means the exclamation mark in the changelogs? Is there an official meaning for it? I would describe it as an important improvement or security fix?

Cheers
