Physically Disable Ethernet Interface (from telnet/script)

Hi All!

I have a unique problem. A client's routers only support fail-over routing if the actual physical link is disabled.

Simply doing "/interface disable ether1" only disables the software portion of the link (ie the lights and physical link still stays up.)

I am sure there is a RouterBoard out there (if not all of them) that allows physically disabling / powering off the link, from RouterOS.

If anybody has experience in this / suggestions / a method of doing this, short of going over there and unplugging the cable every time the wireless link fails, PLEASE LET US KNOW!!!

Our only alternative is to buy a secondary router capable of doing this (any ideas?), and installing it inbetween the RouterBoard and the client's router.

Thank you and Good Day!

As far as I know it is not possible to power down ethernet port. Only disable/enable interface is available.

Hurray. Every routerboard model I've used in the last 5 years now supports this. Thank you Mikrotik!
