Grateful if mikrotik could look into supporting Layer-2 Jumbo frame support( 9000+ Bytes L2 MTU ) into its Wireless backhaul products.

I have a requirement to pass metro ethernet over a few KM's point to point with a L2 MTU of 9000, but wireless side gear currently (NetMetal ac² with 30dBi dishes) is the limitation not the physical eth/sfp ports( which do support Jumbo frames ). I have submitted a support ticket, but have been told that Jumbo frame support is not on the cards for MT's wireless gear, ( Inc NV2 or nstream modes ).

Unfortunately it looks like I'm probably going to have to trash the MT existing gear in the short term , and go buy some Cambium backhaul gear.

Using wifi devices to transmit L2 traffic is a very bad idea. L3 traffic should be transmitted via wifi. In wifi, the maximum size of the data field is 2304 bytes.

I have a requirement to extend a layter-2 metro fiber Ethernet service from a carrier provider over a few km's over some water. The traffic is macsec encrypted to a site. Its pretty simple stuff.

So the wireless gear just needs to support 9000 Bytes-Jumbo frame(Ideally 9200 Bytes ). Mikrotik stops at 2290 Bytes L2 on its wireless interface, yet the physical eth1/SFP ports on the netmetal will support up to 9214 bytes.

That's right it's not an 802.11 wifi device, it's a wireless Ethernet bridges, it's specifically designed for L2 traffic.
PS They usually require special permission from the authorities to use them
