White interface CHR router on proxmox.

Fri Dec 15, 2023 10:41 am

RouterOS 7.6

We have multiple Mikrotik CHR routers deployed on Proxmox but one of them is having issues multiple times a month at random times.
Users are, as an example, not able to make VPN connection.

When the issue occurs the monitor in Proxmox shows that the CPU is at around 90%, way higher then normal (+-10%) and the Disk IO is also high at the moment it occurs.
If we login to the router at the moment of the issue the interface is all white and not responding. So logging is hard to get.

We reboot the router and everything starts working again.
The Mikroik is VPN server and has PPTP and L2TP IPSec enabled

I managed to get this information from the logs:
"snmp, warning, timeout while waiting for program 20."

The CHR has 128MiB of memory and 1 cpu, this is just like the other two CHR's that do not have this issue.

Does anyone have the same issue or alike? Someone who can help understand where the problem lays.
If any configuration is needed please let me know!

Any good reason not to upgrade to some newer stable version, such as 7.12.1 (if you'd rather wait for 7.13 to settle down a bit)?
