KNOT + TG-BT5-IN for home tracking well-being of eldery person.

Fri Mar 01, 2024 3:45 pm

Hardware

- MikroTik KNOT (RB924i-2nD-BT5: https://mikrotik.com/product/knot)
- MikroTik Indoor Bluetooth tag (TG-BT5-IN : https://mikrotik.com/product/tg_bt5_in)

Task Tracking movements of an elderly person inside the house.

My goal is to implement an lightweight home tracking solution for an elderly person. It would be great to achieve the goal
with lightweight Bluetooth tags, instead of the existing (bulky) gsm solutions on the market.

Purpose is analysing there well-being and be assured they did not fall, are lying on the ground (or even worse), and be notified about it too late (>4 hours later...).

Actual tracking

- Knowing they woke up (start moving around in the morning).

- Did not fall and broke something (still moving around in the house on the expected hours) and were no longer able to reach a phone and call for help.

I would like to track the movements of the tag(s) with the KNOT and send the messages to an MQTT broker.

When certain conditions are met (did not start moving, stopped moving, fall detected and stopped moving after fall
detection), the MQTT listener will run a script to raise the attention or call for immediate action.

QUESTIONS

- Does anyone use the KNOT and TG-BT5-IN tags for such a purpose?

Most examples are related to inventory tracking, and I do not consider human beings as 'inventory'...

- Do you have suggestions for proper configuration or settings of the TG-BT5-IN tags, using the 'MT Beacon'?

- Can you provide me with other input or advice?

Greets!
