total Queue types on queues causing dropped packets

Mon Mar 18, 2024 9:57 am

Hey Guys,
I am new to microtik and I am setting up some simple queues.
I am on a 1Gb speed.
using speedtest.net to max out link for testing.
Now
If I change the total queue type in the total tab of the simple queue, I will get a lot of dropped packets if I use anything other then default small.
I dont know if this is to be expected, as I don't see the queue actually queuing any packets.
I know that people have said to use pcq, but even that causes dropped packets, not when used in the advanced tab only when used in the total tab.
any help on the matter would be appreciated.

Ok so I worked this one out myself, here is what fixed the dropped packets and allowed the router to start queuing packets instead of just dropping them.
On the bridge interface there is also, like in the firewall a fastforward checkbox. uncheck this as it is checked by default. then it seems all of the queue types start working as expected.
I have not seen this mentioned in any youtube video, perhaps it is a forgotten step that is taken for granted by those in the know. Although I change the queue type on the advanced tab, didn't check the total tab.
good luck if you have the same problem.
