Netbox 5 AX, L11UG-5HaxD wont send data

Sat Mar 16, 2024 6:25 pm

Dear forum members and mikrotik staff,

we replaced a link that used to run netmetal 5 units with the new netbox 5 ax, were using the mikrotik dish with the precision adjustment kit,

our signal is arround -48 tot -50
but our TX rate and RX rate are stuck at 7.3 Mbps! and TX errors on the wifi1 interface are at 78 953 on the AP side and 42 685 on the Station Bridge side

Station Side:
/interface bridge

Same story with 2 Netbox 5ax in a ptp 7km link.Signals are around -48 on both sides using mikrotik mant30pa solid dish antennas. Trying to configure with every possible settings combination even though the new wifi-qcom drivers don't have much fields to tweak. We experience many random disconnects when the link is trying to transfer data and even when its idle. In our previous configuration we didn't had these issues with 2 netbox 5 ac radios we replaced to this link. The weird thing is that even if we try to connect with older wireless mtk gear (netbox 5ac) from one side and netbox 5 ax on the other the same problem occurs.Iam Guessing it have something to do with the timers of the wifi driver. Finally if you try to connect to the netbox ax ap devices like smartphones or another non mikrotik client in short range it works fine without issues!

Why .width=20mhz ? Have you tried another channel, another frequency?

like duman, i tried allot, channel width, change allot of settings, then revert to basic setting but all with the same result no data rates

when we originally were setting them up the dishes were like facing the floor next to each other, then it works fine, but the deployed in the field its not working anymore

We have also tried various settings as mentioned before including change to channel width, regional settings and everything else with no improvement. These wifi-qcom drivers are lucking features that might help and don't support previous protocols like nv2 and nstreme in which you could configure values to optimize link performance based on distance and latency.

We have the same problem. It is RouterOS problem/bug. Write to support@mikrotik.com

I was already wondering how well the new wifi-qcom and wifi-qcom-ac drivers would work for long-distance PtP/PtMP setups without settings for ACK distance. Looks like I have my answer now. Seems like MikroTik really lost touch with their WISP clients.

Well thats sad.Routeros strong features beside routing capabilities and flexibility was ability to fine tune wireless settings and protocols, and with the new wifi drivers these things are not implemented. As for wisp demands maybe its off topic but i would prefer some products using 802.11ay 60ghz band with 5ghz backup radios up 10 to 15 km range.I believe they will find a solution to the ax long range link problem. Afaik and search there is no long range ptp link development using 802.11ax so far.

What's new in 7.14.2 (2024-Mar-27 09:48):
*) wifi-qcom - added configuration.distance setting to enable operation over multi-kilometer distances (CLI only);
Seems promising. Anyone able to confirm whether this works correctly?

Yes it does! I think we have a good development here. You have to be precise with link distance to get best results.
