CAPsMAN - 2 SSIDs, each on own subnet

Thu Apr 18, 2024 10:28 am

Hello community,

I would like to ask you for help. I use Mikrotik RBD52G-5HacD2HnD in my house. It works perfectly. Currently I would like to extend my WiFi (and I will use also the "eth PORTS") so I bought same router RBD52G-5HacD2HnD. I wanted to use CAPsMAN for management, but unfortunately, I am not able to get it work.
My Curent setup is as following:
network_current.png
Description:
ETH1 - Internet
Eth2-Eth5 + wlan1 (2.4GHz) + wlan2 (5GHz) are in bridge1
VirtualAP ... bridge2
DHCP1 - 192.168.1.0/24 ... assigned to bridge1
DHCP2 - 10.10.10.0/24 ... assigned to bridge2
Wifi:
SSID Home2 ... Bridge1
SSID Home5 ... Bridge1
SSID Guest ... Bridge2

In the future setup I would like to make easier (I hope that it will be easier). So I would like to get to this point:
RBD52G-5HacD2HnD - no.1 - Connected to Internet
ETH2-ETH5 in Bridge1
Wifi:
SSID Home (2.4+5)
SSID Guest
DHCP1 (192.168.1.0/24) - used for bridge1 and SSID Home
DHCP2 (10.10.10.0/24) - used only for SSID Guest

RBD52G-5HacD2HnD - no.2
DHCP Client - to get IP from router no.1
ETH1-ETH5 in Bridge for LAN .... this will use 192.168.1.0/24
SSID Home .... this must use 192.168.1.0/24
SSID Guest ... this must use 10.10.10.0/24

I am able to configure CAPsMAN to control (manage) local wlan1 (2.4)+wlan2(5G) and use the Bridge1 and DHCP1. Unfortunately I got stuck on the bridge setting for Guest SSID. and I am not able to find a way how to do that. I read someposts here, I tried to replicate it in my environment, but without success. I am lost what interface should be assigned to bridge2 or in general how to setup Guest SSID with own DHCP server and get it work under CAPsMAN.

I would approciate any help here. Thank you very much in advance and have a great day
