MikroTik RouterOS simulator

Thu Jun 19, 2008 7:55 am

Hi

I want to have software MikroTik RouterOS simulator. Can someone start to code it?
1) If simulator exists then we can use simulator for training without real hardware.
2) Also new users of MikroTik will recognize RouterOS without requiring new hardware(If simulation does large network then it's funny to test it). They will taste it.

Have you ideas?

As far as I know, there are no any simulators available.
I guess that simulator will take more resources and would cost more expensive rather than original hardware or software.

For the local training, you can think about using virtual machine on local computer to install RouterOS and purchase license for it to try. The only drawback if you would erase/format "training" machine, then license will be lost.

No need for simulator, you can run ros in virtual machine like vmware or bochs (free), and as mt requires only 32mb memory and very low amount of cpu to run you can run it in many instances. Multiple cores/more mem will help if you want to run alot of instances (like 30).
