No NTP in RB750 combined package

Sun Jan 23, 2011 1:26 pm

Hello MikroTik,

One small annoyance I always encounter with upgrading to a new version is having to then re-install the ntp package to run an ntp client. It is particularly annoying to have no ntp client where the clock resets on every boot...

I thought it used to be included in the combined package however it seems now. Is there any chance you can incorporate at least the client into the combined package?

Thanks!

You don't need to install the ntp package for client. NTP client is in the combined package under 'system'.

Hello,

Unfortunately it's not! Only appears after installing the package :(

It's there, look under the system menu. the NTP package replaces the NTP client and adds a NTP server, but without it you still get NTP client only.

Ugh!!! No wonder I never saw it - I feel embarrassed now.

Why was it renamed?

if you need time for router, SNTP is good enough, it is less precise and uses way less resources when compared to NTP client that is provided by ntp package.

If you want to run NTP server on the router, then SNTP won't cut it.

SNTP - Simple NTP
NTP - also has NTP server, appears only after separate NTP package is installed.

Sorry, I've searched a lot for the NTP package and couldn't find it... I've RB1100 with RouterOS 5.12 and I can't see the NTP package at the Package List, neither at the download section of the site.

I know this is a 1 year old thread but same problem here :?
