Problem in MikroTik Connection

Wed Sep 07, 2011 9:17 am

I have two offices linked together with microtik (433 UAH) wireless radios configured as bridge. The bridge port terminates in a D-Link unmanagable switch at each of the two branches. It seems network packets can get into the network at Branch A and moves from LAN A through the wireless bridge up to the ethernet ports in switch at Branch B and vice versa. But my MikroTik wireless connection seems to randomly disconnect, and then reconnect after 5-10 minutes, i'd changed ferequency of wireless continuously, but problem still exist. Its driving us crazy, any idea what would cause this?

Thank you in advance

thanks for your replies.

dear mahnet, answer your questions are as below :

1- the distance between two offices is 600 meters
2- LOS condition is near Line of Sight (nLOS)
3- my antenna type is Flat antenna (integrated antenna units)

In addtion, both of Radio device is in same IP range. IP address of Mikrotik 433 in Office A is 192.168.99.1/24 and office B is 192.168.99.2/24.
Radio in office A is AP Bridge and the other one is WDS Station. they have no any other configuration.
I provide more information that can help you :

POE Adapter : 24V - 3A
POE Cable Length from switch to Wireless Device : about 25 meters, CAT 6 UTP
Band : 5Ghz
Frequency : 5540
Signal Strength : -31 dBm
Noise Floor : - 92 dBm
Overall Tx CCQ : 100%
Bandwidth Test : 32 Mbps

Indeed -31 is too much and yet with nLOS.
Decrease the power of board by atleast 10 dbm on each side.

Check for cable crimping an power source if there is ne loose fitting. Upgrade ur OS n use station bridge rather than wds.

Hi,
i'd check cable and it has no any crimping. also the power of board is set to 10 dbm.

i have three questions about amount of noise or power of board :
1- why should i decrease the power of board to 10 dbm? is there any problem if i set it to 14 dbm?
2- upper value of noise or power of board is better or worse?
3- what's different between ap brdige, bridge, wds station and station?

i'm new in MikroTik configuration, please explain. thanks.

Best Regards

Too much power at a very short range is like using a bullhorn (powered megaphone) to talk to someone 5 feet away in a small echo prone room.

If some is good, more is *not* always better. A sprinkle of salt can make your food taste better, a shovel full of salt can make it inedible. The right amount of rain can make the crops grow, too much rain can cause a flood that washes away the crops, the farmers, their livestock and house...
