Vlans and over wireless with Hotspot MTU? - solved

Fri Jan 04, 2013 10:31 am

Hi All,

I have been having issue with hotspot customers connected to repeater stations via vlans, They are not able to access some website yet other customers connected via (mikrotik Rb816 -> lan5 -> access point -> client) work fine, i suspect its mtu related. I have tried to correct the issue by using the mangle rules from other forms also tried changing the mtu on the vlan and in the ubiquiti routers vlan interface at the AP end. Please see network diagram. When i change the mms in mangle rules it is reflected in the SpeedGuide.net TCP Analyzer Results. i have tried calculated mms changes to extreme changes with no results.

your help would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards

Paul

Hi Guys,

I have done some more testing with varying results.

i setup the vlan ID:1 as a standed lan network ip 10.5.26.1/24 dhcp: 10.5.26.2-10.5.26.254 masquarade:10.5.26.0/24

Same problems :(

but when i setup a PPPOE server on the vlan1 and connect the client machine via pppoe all works fine :? . I am running ros 5.21. I have copied the mms setting for the pppoe tunnel and applied it to the VLAN/HS still not working. any ideas?

Kind Regards

Paul

Solved.

it was a issue with the ubiquity equipment client in bridge mode not passing vlan traffic correctly.

Kind regards

Paul
