Chateau LTE6 ax antenna ANT2 and ANT3 question

Fri Jul 07, 2023 4:59 pm

Hi, All!

I recently bought a Mikrotik Chateau LTE6 ax router. Since I don't want to lose the warranty, I'm not in a hurry to open it.
Could someone from Mikrotik support tell me - which antenna connector is connected where (LTE modem, WiFi), or are the ANT2 and ANT3 connectors usable at all?
My LTE signal strength is not very satisfactory, so I would like to connect an additional 18db directional antenna.

Thanks for the help.

If you read Brochure, it says that these connectors are for an external LTE antenna. So you should connect MIMO 2x2 external 700-2700 Mhz antenna.

Regards.

Thanks for the reply. It appears that Mikrotik have really supplemented their documentation. Unfortunately, using these antennas doesn't work very well - I got zero results when I added an additional LTE antenna to these sockets. Looks like I'll have to take the device apart and see how it looks from the inside.

If it has the ports, there should be a switch in the LTE menu for the antenna selection. The default is "auto", so it should select the best one.
This will show what it's using:
/interface lte settings print
Or you can control it in winbox under Interface>LTE>Settings

I'd recommend putting them at 90º to each other (e.g. like 1970s TV rabbit ears).

Hi, could I ask what what the resolution? Did you manage to get it working?

I am also confused because the manual: https://help.mikrotik.com/docs/display/ ... tennausage mentions you are supposed to connect external antenna to SMA1 and 4, well that is sort of impossible since its slotted with the black antennas already...

Thank you.

Hello, I also have Chateau LTE6 ax, ROS 7.14.2, LTE Firmware 16121.1034.00.01.01.04, winbox 3.40. I tried the external antenna mANT LTE 5o and connected ANT1 (antenna) to ANT2 (chateau lte6 ax) and ANT2 (antenna) to ANT3 (chateau lte6 ax).

By default settings are:
[admin@MikroTik] > /interface lte settings print
              mode: auto
              firmware-path: firmware
              external-antenna: none
[admin@MikroTik] >
But:
- I do not see External Antenna drop down at Interface List -> LTE -> Modem
- I do not see the Antenna Scan button at Interface List -> LTE

However, I'm able to change the setting as follows:
[admin@MikroTik] > /interface lte settings set external-antenna=both
but it looks like does not take any effect.

Can someone advise is this expected behavior, or this device does not support such antenna and I need something like HGO-LTE-W?

Thanks!

Hello!
I'm still trying to understand how Chateau lte6 ax selects and uses LTE antenna(s). Via terminal I set it as follows:
[admin@MikroTik] > /interface lte settings set external-antenna=auto
Documentation https://help.mikrotik.com/docs/display/ROS/LTE (LTE settings) says that in "auto" mode the setting "external-antenna-selected" shows the currently selected antenna, but it shows me nothing:
[admin@MikroTik] > /interface lte settings print
              mode: auto
              firmware-path: firmware
              external-antenna: auto
[admin@MikroTik] > /interface lte settings get external-antenna-selected
[admin@MikroTik] >
Should it show something like "internal" or the name of external antenna? What nothing means in this case? Can anybody help me with this?
Thanks!
