BGP Dual WAN setup with remote and local site ROS7

Mon Nov 06, 2023 9:37 am

Hello,
i have a bgp session with my upstream and all is working well, now i want to deploy a backup bgp session from a remote router in a remote datacenter.
I have established the bgp session there as well but i do not know how to dua a failover setup so i can use backup link when main one at the local site goes down.
Right now on the remote router i do not have ospf, but i have ospf on my network.
My questions are this:
1. Do i need OSPF to carry the remote site bgp session default route?
2. Do i need to make a tunnel from R2 (remote) to R1 (local)?
3. Do i need to make an IBGP session between R1 and R2 for the dual wan failover?
Thank you so much in advance.

Hi,

We will need more information. There are many ways to make failover.

Pls make a small drawing of your network, and share the configs.

Do you have a dedicated link between the data centre and the main site? If you do you could run IBGP over that.
