Need help with mikrotik 4011

Fri Jan 12, 2024 11:32 am

Hey guys

Just got a mikrotik 4011 and i want to use the POE injector to power my mikrotik and use the poe port to power my Unifi u6pro

So the Mikrotik uses
Max power consumption 33 W
Unifi u6pro uses 13W

I did POE into the mikrotik and POE out on the unifi and it all powers on but was wondering if this is safe?

Using a 48VDC, 24W Gigabit POE from unifi to power everything.

Safety will not be the main issue here.

Just add up both max consumptions and you will see you may run into trouble when sum goes over 24W.
Why don't you power RB4011 using it's own PSU ? That one goes to 36W but ... 24V only.
Since RB4011 only uses passive POE in and Out, you need to use at least 48V adapter if you want to keep using this setup for powering Unify.

You can also replace the RB-PSU with a 48V-version providing enough power to handle both devices (I'd say 50W at least) ?
Or use original PSU for RB and use POE injector for Unify.
