RB4011 - Ports 1-5 Going down?

Wed Feb 28, 2024 2:26 am

I have had now two different RB4011 routers running 7.12.1 that have had ports 1-5 (same switch chip) go offline for seemingly no reason in the last 3 weeks. A reboot of the router fixes it.

Base configs are the same on each, but the port configuration is different and one is running OSPF and the other is just static routing. One switch has a bridge for ports 1-2 but the other has no bridges have been created on ports 1-5.

Is there a known issue with RB4011 and ROS7? What happens is I get an alert from the router that ports 1,2,3,4,5 go to ethernet down at the same time. No other errors reported in the logs.

Found another thread with the same issue.

Of the two routers this happend to it is odd as one was installed on 9-29-23 and it was fine until the first port lockups on 2-16-24. The other router was installed on 1-26-24 and it just happend to it the first time today.

Hi! I have the same situation! Router: RB4011iGS-5HacQ2HnD.
Sometimes all ports 1-5 goes down. Only after reboot they works normal.

Maybe temperature is too high: Now i see 45C in system->health monitor? (but i think it doesnt matter)

I had a site where this was happening. I don't remember whether it was warm or cold when it happened, but I eventually replaced it with a 5009. All ports (except maybe one) were being used.

I have other 4011's still out there with only 3-4 ports being used, mostly on 1-5, and they haven't exhibited the same problems.

It could either be a particular hardware run, or other special set of circumstances that causes/contributes to it. It could very well be temperature, especially with an SFP+ module.

BTW, all ports loaded up to 30-50Mbps and SFP+ used too (uplink). Abient temperature about 22-24C
After reboot all ports work as usually. That situation happens... maybe once at one or several months
