basic DNS problem

Tue Jan 19, 2010 11:18 pm

Hello,

anybody can tutor me how to set DNS automatically to my clients that connects to the main RouterOS?

The RouterBoard is connected to an ADSL router then share it to lots of clients, I need the routerOS to get the DNS automatically and share it again over the network.

thanks

The Routerboard / RouterOS is probably a DHCP client...

That said, it will use the DNS from the provider for its internal lookups..

Look for DNS under IP.
click the settings button...
check the "allow remote requests" ..

The Routerboard will now act as a DNS "proxy"..

Use DHCP on the client side to set the client's DNS setings to be eather the Routerboard (lower WAN data / hiher CPU / memory load (small)) or to pass thru the requests to the upstream DNS server...

That is about the short of it....
