Re: Nstreme test package

On a troublesome 900mhz sector in a noisy environment with 12 clients it made a big difference. With or w/o nstreme in the past I had very bad latency. I don't see any other improvements, but the ping times quieted dramatically. I've never considered nstreme a realistic option for pToMpt links in th...

Re: RouterOS v2.9.45 is out!

What type cards are you guys using? I tested with an 8602 and it was the same old problem. Are you using SR2s?

Failed here

Initially it worked, but the way people connected made me nervous; very much like what I saw 1.5 years ago when I last tried this. Clumps of people would connect then back off, then go forward. Initially however it did connect everyone so I thought it was working if a little shaky. Later I tried pla...

Re: Atheros client re-association problem revisited

Short ACK times in a WISP is a bad plan. It causes a lot of unnecessary retries and packet loss. Let's hope the fix MT provided proves out. Has anyone else tried it yet?

Re: Atheros client re-association problem revisited

I have seen this problem on other towers and signal is not the main issue, at least not in the prism chipset world. My signals run -68 to -80. When we hooked up the first few clients we tested and found that people work well into the high 80s, so I set the cutoff at 80. I've done some more experimen...

Re: Atheros client re-association problem revisited

Additional info: I have been migrating to 5.8 Gig sectors which means Atheros cards. When I had just 1-2 customers, speeds were ~ 7Mbits to the tower with 10Mhz channels. I have sectors with 4, 6, and 11 customers. Speeds decline percipitously as the number of subscribers goes up. With 11 customers ...

Re: Atheros client re-association problem revisited

Hello MT folks. As Normus has pointed out, several of you have been following this topic. I'm wondering what you know about the subject, and how it might be addressed. Normus you mentioned that MT is "working on" this problem, but I don't have much sense of that what means. Are only suppor...

Re: Atheros client re-association problem revisited

I tested this about 18 months ago and at that time in my system there were only CB3s at customer sites, which I don't think are Atheros chipset. The only Atheros part was the SR2 or Senao Equivalent ( forget the part number) at the AP. Both failed. BTW I had a previous post removed where I was sugge...

Re: Atheros client re-association problem revisited

Uh Oh, I had this problem on non-nstreme APs and eventually gave up on Atheros. The problem makes the AP useless. My purpose was to deliver higher speeds through 802.11G. The only way I was able to do this was to use an external radio and just use the Mikrotik to manage other functions. I wonder if ...

Thanks

Well, that is hopeful. Sounds like it is headed for 40ms ping times for 40 customers which is not great, but bearable. Thanks for the feedback.

It is really strange though that no-one with a fully loaded AP ever responded. I hate being a pioneer.

Thanks but...

All this feedback is good, and I appreciate it but I REALLY hope to hear from someone who has >40 customers on an Nstreme AP. Ulesss it can reach at least 40 customers I don't consider it worth doing. Better to cave in and get Canopy gear.

cpu speed

Right now I don't get anywhere near 30mbits using 802.11. If I could deliver 8Mbits without all the dropped packets and high latency storms that would be fine. Then when we all figure out how to do a faster AP that won't burn up I could switch them out.

Does anyone have this experience?

p2mp nstreme practical experience with well loaded APs

I've never been very happy with my plain 802.11 qos. I am considering at least providing an option to my customers of a more expensive install and setting aside a channel for nstreme to provide higher quality. I don't want to sell my customers a bill of goods though. I'm wondering if Nstreme really ...
