Unable to access router from failover WAN IP when primary WAN IP is active, and vice versa.

Hello everyone, I have 2 ISP's connected to an RB3011. When the primary ISP is the lowest route distance, I can access the router on that circuit, but I am unable to get a successful ping on the failover, or send out any pings using the /tool ping option on the failover circuit. If I change the rout...

Re: "Official" 2 WAN Failover Script not working

You can find some inspiration here: https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:PCC Just ignore two rules with per-connection-classifier options, those do load balancing which the article is primarily about. The rest should give you an idea about what you need. And don't post new problems to old threads,...

Re: "Official" 2 WAN Failover Script not working

I think I'm also missing the proper Route rules.

Is there anyone that's familiar with this script and it's process that can shed some light on it for me please?

Or another failover option that would work with 2 different WAN's?

Re: "Official" 2 WAN Failover Script not working

Hello everyone, sorry to add to an old thread, but I don't know where else to post this. I'm unable to locate the original Mangle rules for this script as the presentation link is now dead. I'm trying to implement dual wan failover script, but I think I'm missing the mangle rules portion of this. I ...

Re: Spambots

First, digging up almost ten years old post is rarely good idea, don't do it. And spambot using non-standard ports doesn't make much sense. Mail servers all use port 25, They have to, because that's how e-mail system works. While some may also have smtp on other ports in addition to 25, spambot aim...

Re: Spambots

I see how this can work for port 25, but I appear to have spambot's that are using none standard ports to send e-mails. How would I go about trapping something like that? Would I set a rule that limits the amount of active connections one IP can have? Would that effect my other normal members?

Re: RouterOS auto-changing interface address after applying changes [SOLVED]

The config is wrong. Find some subnet calculator, make a list a /30 networks and you'll find out that: .244 = network address .245 = first usable address .246 = second usable address .247 = broadcast Thanks for the reply Sob. So the command for the proper config would then be: /ip address add addre...

RouterOS auto-changing interface address after applying changes [SOLVED]

Hey there folks, I'm running into an interesting behavior with RouterOS. We recently had a fiber connection installed to one of our centers, and when we try to set an interface with the new static IP address provisioned by our ISP, RouterOS changes the network IP by 1 octet. We need the octet to be ...

Re: Unable to access second WAN

Okay, I was able to add the following to the firewall rules, and move it to the top. I can now ping my failover connection from the public side. It appears the failover is working properly. However, I'm unable to access Winbox on the failover connection. Do I need to setup a new filter rule that all...

Re: MikroTik routers question

The RB3011 has 10 ports total, and would be more then enough power to manage your home network. I have about 30 RB3011's out int he field operating businesses. I can safely have about 250 devices online with a 500Mbps symetrical ISP connection. Router runs at about 45% CPU load, with about 40 Mangle...

Unable to access second WAN

Hello, I have an RB3011 that is setup with dual WAN. I'm unable to ping, or access winbox on the second WAN's static public IP address. I have setup the public static IP (that works when we input the same static IP in to the ethernet settings of a laptop) for the failover to ETH3. I've also setup a ...

Re: Mikrotik is unable to open ports for port forwarding [SOLVED]

For UPNP, turn it on under IP > UPNP Looks like Uber conference uses SIP/VoIP. There is no port forwarding to setup for that. Uber conference website says to disable SIP ALG. I'd first try it with it enabled... Then try turning it off with UPNP enabled. This actually worked for me. I was able to di...

Max bandwidth in Queue monitor with e-mail notification

Hello, I'm trying to figure out a way to have the Mikrotik router send me an e-mail when a specific amount of tx or rx bandwidth has been reached. I do have queues going, but would like to know when a router is utilizing 90-100% of the total available bandwidth from the ISP. I think this can be done...

Re: 2 hotspots + 2 different user profiles

Thanks again for the reply solar. I was really hoping there was a way to have RouterOS do this locally at the router level, and not have to do this with the RADIUS. But if that's literally the only way to do this, then I'll just have to do it. Seems to me there should be a way to have RADIUS authent...

Re: 2 hotspots + 2 different user profiles

If I setup a simple queue with Max Limit/Burst Limit/Burst Threshold/Limit At = 10M/50M queue type= pcq-upload/pcq-download, will that by default grab all of the traffic in that ip range and limit it to 5M/50M in total, or will this allow each active IP in that pool the 5M/50M rates? Is this a Dynam...

Re: 2 hotspots + 2 different user profiles

I think the main issue is, that we are using a RADIUS server for our user database. It looks like RouterOS will only select a "User Profile", if the user is listed in the "Users" (RouterOS>IP>Hotspot>Users). I guess my question is, how can I set per IP limits for each ip range. example 172.20.32.0/2...

Re: Can't make supout.rif

Hello again. I have updated the RB3011 with v6.39.2, and FW 6.35.4

Router still reboots it's self at 15%. Is this a hardware issue? I now have 2 RB3011's (out of 14 total) that do this.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

We recently had to setup a hotspot portal for a customer, and route traffic out through their network (it's a school district, so their user's traffic has to go through some filtering stuff they own). We ended up using OpenVPN between locations (on RB 1100 AHx2s, I believe). The tricky part was tha...
