Re: Multiple serial ports

Great suggestions - thanks! For the fun of it, I tried attaching a USRobotics modem to an 1100AH router last night with a PPP-client (and tried server) couldn't get it to work. Tried straight and Null RS-232 cable/etc. Made sure the console was unattached from serial0, set up the modem init string/e...

Multiple serial ports

Hello - this question is just sheer curiosity (I have no plans) - if someone wanted to attach a bunch of serial ports to Mikrotik for a dial-up modem pool, is x86 the only option? Or is there a way to use some equipment and connect to a CCR or an 1100/etc?

Just wanted to drop a line and congratulate Mikrotik on carrying CWDM products. Having low cost optical MUX/DEMUX will help the community. We've been using CWDM for about 5 years now in the data centre - it has saved us tens of thousands of dollars. One of the co-lo facilities we are in charges $295...

I am excited to learn Mikrotik released LNS functionality - been dreaming of it for a long time :) Our DSL subscription base is small, Mikrotik would make a perfect fit to serve as LNS. Re: Memory Leak with BGP?

In my 1GB RAM RB1100 system, when the RAM gets to the 300-400MB level, it starts degrading rapidly, CPU utilization climbs to 100% then the router dies - I need to do a power cycle to get it back up and running.

Also, CPU utilization starts growing (and going) crazy when a peer is lost, or full routes are being sent to a peer. Also noticed that routes come in pretty slowly. Not certain if the slow routes is due to RB1000/RB1100 hardware. Quagga on x86 runs far better, even on slower computers.
