Hello - this question is just sheer curiosity (I have no plans) - if someone wanted to attach a bunch of serial ports to Mikrotik for a dial-up modem pool, is x86 the only option? Or is there a way to use some equipment and connect to a CCR or an 1100/etc?

In my 1GB RAM RB1100 system, when the RAM gets to the 300-400MB level, it starts degrading rapidly, CPU utilization climbs to 100% then the router dies - I need to do a power cycle to get it back up and running.

Also, CPU utilization starts growing (and going) crazy when a peer is lost, or full routes are being sent to a peer. Also noticed that routes come in pretty slowly. Not certain if the slow routes is due to RB1000/RB1100 hardware. Quagga on x86 runs far better, even on slower computers.

BGP IPv6 Router ID

Hello, I am trying to establish a BGP session over IPv6 with a peer. Trouble is, I can't seem to find what I should be populating the "router-id" property in /routing bgp instance with. I am trying to put a IPv6 address in the router-id field, but it won't accept it. This is a IPv6 peer - ...

I can't click on destination and change it to BGP AS Path.

Any suggestions?

Thank you for your reply and your screen shot - the extra effort is much appreciated!

View routes from peers? BGP

Hello, I've been trying for a while but no luck. I'm looking for a way in Winbox to see all the prefixes/subnets that a specific peer is advertising. Basically, I want to take a look at the routing table a peer is sending my way. How can I do this in Winbox?

Re: GPS & RouterBoard

Thank you for the information - I will give it a try next week. I'm fairly certain I am only using the TX and GND from the GPS unit (RX on the Routerboard) but I will double check and get back to you.

I will give this a try!

GPS & RouterBoard

Hello, I have an old RouterBoard 112 that I haven't ever used and I didn't want it to go to waste. I wanted to setup my own NTP time server that derives the clock signal from GPS. I have a GPS board that connects to the Serial0 port. I went online to the MikroTik site and used a new level 4 license ...

Re: Mikrotik causes worldwide net instability!?

I agree - but I thought I would post what I found so the fine folks at Mikrotik could take a look - maybe there is a bug that should be repaired, maybe not. Just thought I'd be a good Mikrotik user and report back to the 'mothership' that is Mikrotik! If it matters, I've been running BGP for nearly ...

Mikrotik causes worldwide net instability!?

Hello - Just would like to state that I really do like Mikrotik and use it nearly everywhere on my networks. Here is a link that I found on Slashdot.org today.

Have a read - maybe someone will understand it better than I.

RB493 MTU Limitation? BUG?

Hello, I have purchased several RB493 boards and when I try to enter an MTU higher than 1518 on an ethernet interface I get a "Couldn't change interface - could not set mtu" message. My RouterBoard 1000 and RB500's routers support the desired MTU of 1596 that I am looking for. I am connect...

Re: 2009 and Mikrotik

ADSL mini-PCI card anyone? I would love to see a ADSL or ADSL2+ interface that can be housed right in a router board enclosure. I know many use MT for wireless, but a bunch of us use it for strictly hard wired networks. A lot of our customers or DSL users.

More serial ports would be nice too.

Production router running BGP - want to install routing-test

Hello, I have a production router where I can (at great distance however) travel to obtain physical access - so I'm avoiding physical access if possible. The router is running the 'routing' package, however, I have found some MPLS examples that I'd like to try on our infrastructure (controlled by th...

Interface Bonding performance trouble over 10 meg wired conn

Hello - I have been experimenting with bonding using 2 RB532A devices. The attempt is to get approx 20 Mbit/sec link using (2) 10 Mbit/sec wired ethernet connections between the routers acting as trunks in a trasparent bridge. Both MT routers are configured as follows: MT 2.8.44 - RB532A Ether1-LAN ...

Maybe there is a setting that needs adjustment in the BIOS.
