Winbox neighbor tab shows IPV4 only [SOLVED]

Ive had this problem for a while now that IPV6 addresses don't show up in the neighbors tab when starting up winbox. They do show up when rebooting from upgrades then go away when everthing is up and running again. Most recently I had to reboot my ISP's modem. While that modem was down, the IPV6 add...

Re: alternate DNS for specific IP on LAN, is it possible? [SOLVED]

The NATting shouldn’t make a difference one way or the other. In a home network, any device can choose to use any DNS server; they all go through NAT, and it all works. The only difference in your configuration is that you have a device that needs to be fed a custom DNS value instead of having an o...

Re: alternate DNS for specific IP on LAN, is it possible? [SOLVED]

So, I'm still looking at this problem. If I am using the routers /ip/dns as seen from the export in the original post do I have to add my iptv box ip as static in this section to get this to work? Maybe I have to add line ? /ip>dns static add address=192.168.88.138 name=MAG322 This is the current ex...

Re: alternate DNS for specific IP on LAN, is it possible? [SOLVED]

is that rule still active? /ip firewall nat add action=redirect chain=dstnat comment=DNS dst-port=53 protocol=udp \ to-ports=53 That would cause it redirect all dns traffic to local dns afterall... Yep, that on'e active in firewall/nat I figured it might be the culprit, but I do need it for my LAN....

Re: alternate DNS for specific IP on LAN, is it possible? [SOLVED]

quick tip: You don't need to calculate hex values. If you follow manual , you will find that IP can be added with apostrophes This is working example from my tests: /ip dhcp-server option add code=6 name=dns-cloudflare value="'1.1.1.1'" (notice the apostrophes within quotation marks. in G...

Re: alternate DNS for specific IP on LAN, is it possible? [SOLVED]

Although the device now has an alternate DNS from the LAN, it is not working ie. there is blocking on the device from OpenDNS. I tried the DHCP-option with winbox gui on the static lease for the IPTV box, and it only allows unknown to be selected. Maybe CLI will allow it ? I saw from the IANA link, ...

Re: alternate DNS for specific IP on LAN, is it possible? [SOLVED]

This is amazing, I love those solutions, very ingenious. Since I make hard wired connections in my LAN static I went for the solution suggested by vecernik87. I added the info through winbox GUI (below is the export). I rebooted my IPTV box and voila, it is now using the preferred DNS as described b...

alternate DNS for specific IP on LAN, is it possible? [SOLVED]

Hi, I've been trying to get my IPTV box to use a DNS other than my LAN's. I tried netmap as shown below but it did not work, maybe because of the redirect above it ? Hoping for an easy solution with firewall. I may have to remove the IPTV box's ethernet port from bridge and give it its own IP etc or...

Hi Chaosphere64 I've encountered this with my winbox as well, it's always in the back of my mind. I found another post on here about the problem...I'm going to try the suggested pinging from a host on my network and see if that helps. https://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=112863 chuky0

chuky0 - Can you check if you see router in neighbors when you connect to other router? Main idea is to see if Winbox loader neighbors do not work or problem is also there on RouterOS. If you downgrade router to 6.40.5, then does it appear on neighbors list? Thanks for the reply strods, each device...

winbox stopped seeing my Mikrotik devices ipv6 addresses in neighbor tab. I used to be able to login with the ipv6 address and did so just for the fun of it. This happened once before and resolved on reboot of my hEX router. It did not resolve this time with a reboot. There have been no configuration...

Re: can I configure wlan (wAP ac) through router (hEX)? [SOLVED]

Heres my easy answer that I've found. I use winbox to access my router remotely, then I can use tools>telnet>mac-telnet into the wAPac. And from there I can do what I need to do, so far I did tool>mac-scan to see whats goin on. Good way to get real familiar with the CLI

Thanks for your replies. Shadeofspirit, you got it, I want to have access to configure updates, see connected clients etc (from behind the router as jarda stated). Hi, my first topic to post in MT land. I've been doing alot of homework on the setup at my house which I've had since March. Everything is running great. I'm sure my config could be better, and am probably looking at it too much instead of leaving well enough alone. I use winbox remotely to look at ...

Awesome, thanks for the reply. I've grouped my chains together ie input and forward for my own organization. Your example shows you can intersperse them and organize them however you'd like. Now I can move them back to parallel my v4 filter rule list !

Re: Firewall ICMP Rule

Hi, my first post here. Huge learning curve, but I am enjoying the challenge so far. I've modeled my firewall rules after Zerobytes closer to the top of the thread. My question is about the order of the forward rules first in the v6 firewall, why? I've seen this in other peoples examples as well. v4...
