Re: EoIP - tunnel drops after 60 secs [SOLVED]

Gi Sindy,
moving the cable to ether4 made it work. What's with that? For you to suggest it, you must have seen this before. Any possible logical explanation?
Thanks very much for your help.

Re: EoIP - tunnel drops after 60 secs [SOLVED]

Hi Sindy, Attached is the information you've requested, I am also attacheing a jpeg showing the setup. Looking at the output there what seems to be apparent is that for some reasons the client attached to ether3 of rtr-mkt-a5 does not get the mac of 172.16.123.1 and keeps arping for it even though t...

Hi sindy, that was posted already (not much to hide there, I am using this router just for tunnel). It is with the post of the screenshots. I am attaching it here again.

Re: EoIP - tunnel drops after 60 secs [SOLVED]

Thanks again sindy. On the point "The MAC address is learnt from any incoming frame....." I agree with you. There is no device in the middle. In order to test, I disconnected the real clients at both ends. I created a vlan interface on the switch wich is directly attached to the rtr-lon-02 ether3. A...

EoIP - tunnel drops after 60 secs [SOLVED]

Hi all, I have setup my first EoIP tunnel and having issues. The tunnel worked for about 60 secs after that my user reports that the tunnel is no longer working; i do not have control of what is attached to the tunnel. One end client is still learning the MAC address of the other end client, but the...

Re: BGP prefering local preference over routing distance

@mrz: can you please clarify? So the admin distance is compared first and then parameters within the same routing protocol? If I have the same route from OSPF / iBGP (local pref 200) and eBGP; following the logic above it eBGP would win the admin distance comparison and then iBGP would win the BGP f...

Re: Script to disable BGP when OSPF neighbor down - No such item

Thanks mrz, That seems to work only if the neighbor is up, which is not my problem. In case the neighbor is down, which is what I want to check, I still get the error: no such item. In other words if the neighbor exist then the statement: if ([/routing ospf neighbor get [find address=\"192.168.37.1\...

Re: Script to disable BGP when OSPF neighbor down - No such item

Hi MRZ,

You say "First check if ospf neighbor exist and only then try to get any params." how do I achieve this?

Because I could write a script that says:

"check if OSPF neighbor exist"
if not
shut down interface
!
If I knew how to check if ospf neigh existed.

Re: Script to disable BGP when OSPF neighbor down - No such item

Thanks MRZ, Maybe I should have explained this a little better. The idea is to monitor the OSPF status using a continuous loop ( if there are better ways to achieve this, please let me know). The script would have to do be pretty much (not exactly): if status is "Full" do nothing else shut down Lo12...

Script to disable BGP when OSPF neighbor down - No such item

Hi all, I am trying to write scripts to control my Internal <-> external traffic. I got a script working in case a BGP session is anything but established I am disabling the internal ip address where I run OSPF. I am having issues with the other side because the OSPF neighbor is not present at all (...

Re: BGP prefering local preference over routing distance

:-( live environment, but yes I had the same reaction. As it happens I brought up a new BGP peer, internal, and the router pushed the eBGP def route into the routing table, I would say having to go through the selection alorithm again made it realised it had a better distance default route. OSPF - prefix learnt via internet tunnel preferred over loca

Hi all, I am having issues with OSPF on MT. Simple topology I have R1 which has two GRE tunnels, one to R2 and one to R3. R2 and R3 are also connected via an MPLS network which is our main network, there is another router between R2 and R3, let's call it R4. R1 / \ R2 R3 ¦ ¦ R4 ¦ ___¦____¦___ R2 - R...

Re: Redistribute static routes to OSPF

@martinb
I believe the name is a problem. There are some predifined chains and for ospf are ospf-in and ospf-out and I believe you will have to use those to filter in OSPF

Re: Default Route from BGP to OSPF

Thanks Mrz, at least I know I am not going mad. I am sure you aleready know this as you say you have been running tests. The other way I can get the lsa for the default to appear is to redistribute bgp into OSPF, I can then take it off and it keeps working, but it seems that OSPF needs a "trigger" a...

Re: Default Route from BGP to OSPF

Hi Mrz, I am seeing very inconsitent behaviours. This is what I can now replicate almost consistently on GNS3. If I set distribute-default=if-installed-as-type-1 and then I get the default route from BGP then it works, I can shut/unsht the bgp perring and the default gets in and out of OSPF. If I re...

Re: Default Route from BGP to OSPF

Thanks MRZ. I am aware and agree with you but it does not work if I do not redistribute BGP, I got it set up on GNS3, I can't prove it on the live network. On the live network I have it setup as you describe below (was hoping it was going to work) but I don't get the OSPF default route. I read from ...

Re: Default Route from BGP to OSPF

@SoundGuyFYI Actually it works but you still have redistribute bgp into ospf, we still need an LSA in the OSPF database right, if we do not redistribute BGP into OSPF, there is no LSA for it. Once you do that (make sure you have you filter right) you can inject it into OSPF with the command shown ab...

Re: Default Route from BGP to OSPF

Having the same issue, runing version 6.40 into a virtual environment.

Very simple setup a router upstream sending a default route to the MT, route in the routing table.

The MT has a full ospf relation with a router downstream, applied the command but the OSPF router is not getting the default.
