Re: creating too many vlans cause any problem?

on an average box we have about 1000 outer vlans, in each than 1 to 4 inner vlans - this is all not a problem in production environment as described above, as long as you don't like to fiddle with winbox. but you have to take care, what you are exactly doing with it. alone the broadcasts of this num...

Re: creating too many vlans cause any problem?

hi, we have some ccr with 8k plus stacked vlans/bridges/ports - it works fine in things of layer 2, when you respect the proper filtering for broadcasts. the only thing which really sucks, is the performance/stability of winbox, because it loads all interfaces first and makes no 'lazy load' on only ...

Re: CSR3xx, HW-Offloading, Q-in-Q in 6.43

i absolutely agree. q-in-q as interconnect between service providers is 99% stacked dot-q, so 0x8100 - which ros doesn't support anymore hw offload. 0x88a8 makes only sense when you don't want to stack further - so only in your own network - where, finally it has no advantage over 0x8100 for my poin...

feature request VRRP script change must not trigger interface change

dear mikrotik, we have several situations where it's necessary to elect a master in redundant configurations via vrrp. this master/backup scenario is than used as an example to enable/disable bridges for layer 2 redundancy, where stp is not possible. the problem with the current solution is, that wh...

use fastpath with input firewall filter protection

hi, we are using several ccr's with high loads because of bgp etc. i want to use the fastpath feature, for traffic forwarded by those routers trough vlan interfaces, but in the fastpath docu there is written: --- IPv4 fast path is automatically used if following conditions are met: firewal rules are...

static oid with dynamic interfaces? my old php based workaround with routeros api: $API = new routeros_api(); $API->debug = false; if ($API->connect($ip[$a], 'user', 'pass')) { $API->write('/ppp/active/print',false); $API->write('=.proplist=name,address,uptime,caller-id,service'); $READ = $API->read...

Re: L2TP keep alive - where is it?

hello we are missing the keepalive feature too, right now our setup: CPE (dsl) -> LAC (wholesale partner) -> LAC (our cisco) -> LNS (mikrotik) the problem is, if for some reason the cpe goes down (loses sync or such) then the tunnel between CPE and first LAC is being dropped properly, but mikrotik s...

rb493 switch functionality with native vlans

Dear All, as far as i know and tested, the new RB493 is capable of acting like a 8-port ethernet switch when activating and grouping the ports (except port ether1) in master-port groups. All works fine, as long as you have only the need that all grouped ports just act like mirror ports. All Vlans ar...

Re: bonding wireless for maximum throughput

All Bonded cards have fixed equal bandwidth. Target speed which works well allone is 36Mbit each. I tried to lower bandwith down to 18mbit symmetric on all cards at the same time with the reproducable results, that bonding is no increase in overall speed. As i already told before, all cards together...

Re: bonding wireless for maximum throughput

I absolutely can agree the bonding problems under 3.X. Anyhow i have never reached a higher bonded troughput than a single link without bonding. I'm using RB333 with multiple R52H Cards and directional Antennas over approx 11.1km as a PTP link. When using all links together, each as it's own bridge ...

Changed Packet Flow Firewall & PPPoE / DHCP

Dear Normis, Problem in short: Currently it's not possible to Filter DHCP and PPPoE requests. Problem in long: currently Packet flow for inbound packets comes up first to the the PPPoE and DHCP Services and second to the Firewall Services. So a Packet never reaches any Bridge-Firewall or IP-Firewall...
