Yeah, I did. The solutions provided, non 3rd party wise, does work for browser based streaming but proves ineffective to block the Mobile Apps. So in short, Mobile apps proves to be a headache with Mikrotik.

Wow, cannot believe I overlooked that. Was in quite a rush and stressed a bit when seeing these two adresses. How weird indeed. Only popped up like, to my knowledge, today. Been using normal Google DNS as static for almost a year.

Weird that it write it backwards.

Thanx for the info.

The 80 range is a VSAT 550ms+ range. The sniffer says the response from the 80.3 arrives 40-60 ms after the request is sent in the opposite direction. But as you mention there's a VSAT link in the path, 40-60 ms is mission impossible, so could it actually be 1040-1060 ms (i.e. response to request N...

It's strange, as everything looks fine in your configuration. The routes are there, the masquerade rule is there (it could be more selective but it doesn't cause any trouble as-is given the rest of the configuration). So try pinging something in the 192.168.80.0/24 range that you know to respond, f...

Re: Mikrotik CAP AC Performance Review

I'm glad you like it! Will you use the default case, or the square case? So far i love the look of the square case more than the round one. However i can't seem to replace the case with square one. Scared i might break of a pin and then I have to pay for it haha. This thing is so far a beast. Would...

Mikrotik CAP AC Performance Review

Good Morning Guys So we've received the new CAP AC's as a Distributor a week ago. So far this unit is exceeding my expectations with Download of 192mbps and Upload of 183mbps which is amazing for such a cost effective unit. We have a 500mbps business premium fiber line. So my question so far is; * W...

Re: Winbox on Linux Problems

On Windows and Mac and Fedora but Mint and Ubuntu no luck. Was there a specific Winbox version you guys used that actually worked? I don't want to go back to Winbox 2 due to the Malware on it's dll files.

Can't always have static addressing but going to try it tomorrow when i'm back at work.

Re: Winbox on Linux Problems

I ran Winbox on Ubuntu for a long time with no issues. MAC discovery would only work though if I had a gateway set on the interface so maybe that could be something to try. Tried that, still doesn't discover anything. Tried it on a Ubuntu machine also no luck. Still can only use the unit's IP addre...

Re: Mikrotik State of the Art Security and Firewalling

Well that is a bit larger than what I have experience with. We have a network with some 200 users and 100 VoIP telephones distributed over 3 locations and the users are employees of a company who are not intentionally hacking the system, and if they would they would not have to be prevented to do t...

Winbox on Linux Problems

Good Morning I'm currently running Linux Mint 18.3 with Winbox 3.12 however my problem is that Winbox (Wine) does not discover devices and cannot use mac address. So I can only use Winbox with IP addressing if I know what the address is and I cannot risk resetting the unit because I won't be able to...

Re: Mikrotik State of the Art Security and Firewalling

It depends on what your requirements are and what your switches can do (e.g. ACL on L3 routing) but that is what we normally do, yes. Use the switch capabilities for fiber failover, to keep VLANs for public/guest facilities separate from the L3 routing of the LAN, and use a data and voice VLAN that...

Re: Mikrotik State of the Art Security and Firewalling

I would spend more money on switches and when required spend less on the router. Get switches from a reputable switch manufacturer like HP Procurve (now Aruba networks) or Cisco. L3 switches with PoE from those manufacturers have come down in price and offer functionality that is currently way beyo...

Re: Mikrotik State of the Art Security and Firewalling

Where are you located? I am experienced in large ‘MikroTik’ networks. And might help you with this. Which brand of switches are you going to use? I'm in South Africa. So far they want me to come up with a solid new age Proposal with Cloud Computing, Top Cyber security etc. They will get Ethical Hac...

Mikrotik State of the Art Security and Firewalling

Good Morning. I would like your help and input setting up state of the art firewall system (attached you will fine a Cisco Packet Tracer drawing concept example). I would like to use Mikrotiks for this due to the price of Cisco and Juniper. I am still new to Cyber Security (2 years) thus all type of...
