Re: Is it safe to update hEXv3 ROS to v6.40.5 [current]?

I needed to send one rb750gr3 to RMA because of boot loop and because I was not able to initiate a netinstall. Other devices of this model went good. That's a bummer. I really don't want to trigger whatever bug is affecting updates. Did this happen with updates in the past? IMO this is serious issu...

Is it safe to update hEXv3 ROS to v6.40.5 [current]?

I've read about many users who updated to new firmware (v6.40.5 [current]) were having their devices stuck in boot-loop or worse.
Can someone, preferably from MikroTik devteam, tell me what was the root cause for that?
What precautions can\should I make to ensure safe and error-free update?

Re: How do I perform a quick check of listening ports on MikroTik devices?

This page lists the default services and ports used. https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:IP/Services I've asked about ports currently in listening state, not just any port list. And for an example, "/ip services" doesn't list ports for DNS service (53/tcp, 53/udp) provided by MikroTik d...

Re: PIM - IP Tv

You can follow this guide to setup igmp-proxy: https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:R ... IGMP-Proxy

Post your configuration if you will still have problems with igmp-proxy configuration:
export hide-sensitive compact

Post your configuration:
export hide-sensitive compact
Also more information about your network would help.

Whoa! I think I will pass on upgrading to this version...
I haven't experienced firmware\BIOS update failure in ages. How this version passed QA tests? :(

Re: Upgrading RB750Gr3 with 16MB Flash

Device does not have internet connectivity, there are going to be several more like this. There isn't enough flash to upgrade RouterOS Free Space = 6.8MiB routeros-mipsbe-6.39.3.npk = 9.9MB I've tried transferring the file to root (memory?), but when I reboot, the file is deleted and the OS does no...

How do I perform a quick check of listening ports on MikroTik devices?

Is there a "netstat"-like or "ss"-like CLI command available in RouterOS?

Re: Few simple questions about custom chains in RouterOS

1.) Unless you tell it to return to the chain from which it jumped from or have a catch all rule, it will fall through to a default accept. So, I have to always add additional rule at the end of every custom chain to force some final action on packet and if I don't do that packet will be accepted? ...

Few simple questions about custom chains in RouterOS

Let's assume we have this set of rules: ... chain=input action=jump jump-target=someconn connection-state=new protocol=tcp in-interface=ether1 dst-port=88 chain=someconn action=add-src-to-address-list protocol=tcp address-list=somelist in-interface=ether1 dst-port=88 ... chain=input action=drop in-i...

Re: RB3011 throughput?

This is no small task to test actual throughput because there is multiple ways to configure a MikroTik router. Taking into consideration features like FastTrack, FastPath, using Filter rules and SPI Firewall, internal Switch being used without Bridge, sizes of packets and different protocols passing...

Re: What MikroTik devices are sold with factory pre-installed heatsinks?

That's true. Although not every Mikrotik has a temperature sensor. Looking at my 750Gr3, fixed at the wall. Its temperature reading is at 45 Celsius. This unit is tested by Mikrotik up to 70 ambient Celsius. Looks good to me. Looking at two 1100AHx2, on the rack. Its temperature reading is at 42 an...

Re: What MikroTik devices are sold with factory pre-installed heatsinks?

Heat transfer is a function of temperature delta. The bigger the difference from the thing to be cooled and the cooling element, the better. Knowing the air temperature, the thermal resistance and the energy dissipated, one can reliable calculate the range of ambient temperatures where the device c...

Re: What MikroTik devices are sold with factory pre-installed heatsinks?

I want to know, if MikroTik devices are protected from overheating and possible CPU throttling. Mikrotik specifies what the ambient temperature should be for each device model to work reliably (and it appears to be up to +70°C for most devices). You can find this information on the official product...

What low-cost devices are coming with factory pre-installed heatsinks?
What about hAP and hEX series and their lite versions?

Re: Unable to tell how much interfaces MikroTik devices has. [SOLVED]

Number of Ethernet ports = Interfaces. All our devices have the same number of interfaces as Ethernet ports... This is probably what should have been described in specifications, because there is so much devices looking similar from the back from other vendors and that colour markings are misleadin...

Unable to tell how much interfaces MikroTik devices has. [SOLVED]

Recently, I have installed\setup RB3011UiAS-RM. It was my first experience with MikroTik device and I really liked its performance and was surprised it actually has 10 interfaces. Today I browsed through other MikroTik device specifications, but there is no information about how much actual interfac...
