I uploaded the file with Winbox, then right clicked it, selected Restore and chose my password, and pressed OK. It restarted but it did not restore my backup.

Backup doesn't restore - Just goes back to previous settings

I have a backup that was made with /system backup save encryption=aes-sha256 password=password name="mybackup.backup" I factory reset my router (the same router the backup was made from), dragged the file in with Winbox, and restored it. However all that happens is the router reboots with the same d...

Re: Public-Mikrotik-Bandwidth-Test-Server(s)

No, telling them to provide servers like ubiquiti do I think it's much easier to add speedtest.net client - they have servers all over the world :) It would be nice if Mikrotik came out with an optional ROS server package which would allow computers to perform http speedtests to a Mikrotik. Be good...

4G is actually 3.5G
Say what?

In the land of the US, maybe some operator is trying to sell 3.5G for 4G (as they do with 5G, top kek), but rest assured - 3.5G and 4G are totally different technologies.

Re: Some wireless questions

What rate are you getting? How are you measuring it?

channel-width=20/40mhz-Ce

I would think you need to set 80mhz, perhaps on both ends? That could be your main problem.

Wireless 5 GHz Max data rate 867 Mbit/s
I think that is non-duplex so doubt you could ever get above 400 Mbit/s in one direction.

I have enabled Cookies, MAC and MAC cookies, given the cookie a 28 day lifetime, the trial a 7d lifetime. But I find that the user has to keep logging in again when they reconnect,...

Filter Rules - Output showing activity, why?

Hi I have blocked an address list in my Filter Rules. The intention is to block computers on the network from accessing the address list. I understand Forward chain is most appropriate, as it is for routed traffic. I also added Input and Output chains just to see what happened, and I noticed that th...

Re: [Feature request] Address List extension

That's awesome. The extra efficiency of deduplication of overlapping ranges isn't important enough in my case. Re: [Feature request] Address List extension

That's awesome. It is a good start to making a script that could for example let Google or Facebook in a Walled Garden list or perhaps QoS rule or blocking. I wish I knew how to deduplicate it. It would be great as an online script generator. I tested it and it seemed an effective way to block Faceb...
