Re: v7.14.2 [stable] is released!

Installation went well without issues, but an issue that seems related to DFS probing on AX devices which has been present since 7.14 still persists. So I keep 5 GHz WiFi turned off on those devices that keep locking up. :-/

Re: v7.14 [stable] is released!

For a few days, I've been noticing freezes/crashes on one of my cAP ax. Not sure what's going on there. Log on CAPsMAN only says "disconnected abc@aa:bb:cc:dd:ee:ff, connection interrupted". Powercycling brings the device back for a couple more hours. This certainly didn't happen on 7.13.5...

Re: No available Channels on cAP but CAPsMAN is ignorant

Hi Guys, after updating to the latest release 7.13.4, it looks like the behavior has changed slightly (for the worse): cAPs will not silently stop operating anymore but - if there is no free channel available based on the configuration - seemingly choose an arbitary channel (one that is NOT configur...

Quick update: Issue still persists with 7.13.2 (and 7.13.3). Response from MikroTik:
It indeed seems like the issue could arise after a DFS event.
They're now looking into it in order to hopefully provide a fix soon. Just so you know. :)

Re: No available Channels on cAP but CAPsMAN is ignorant

Perhaps I didn't make myself clear: I configure CAPsMAN and cAP. WiFi starts working. A day later CApSMAN still shows no error but cAP displays the above status. Reboot cAP -> works again. I suppose the channel gets blocked due to DFS (I only configure a single 80 MHz channel), but that is okay. Wha...

I'm not exactly sure whether this intentional, but it only shows the local status of the interface. Since your interfaces are managed by CAPsMAN, they will still work regardless of whether they are disabled locally. At least that's what it is for me.

Hi Guys, it seems that since I upgraded to ROS 7.13, my CAPsMAN (RB5009) will often not show an error with one of the remote cAPs related to "no available channels". So when I look at CAPsMAN, everything looks good but in reality one of the cAPs is actually not running due to the above err...

Yes, country is set to Germany in both cases. (Germany allows channel 13.) At any rate, this is set at the interface level so no change needed when switching between explicit frequency and channel.

RB4011iGS+5HacQ2HnD-IN = installation of advanced-tools-6.48.3 failed: broken package
I cannot confirm. Looks pretty good on my end.

Re: wAP ac or NetMetal ac²?

Thank you for your opinion, anuser. I am not looking at a high-volume deployment, so I believe the aforementioned devices will do just fine. Thanks, normis, as well for your input. I understood that the devices serve a different use case but would nonetheless both fit my requirements. Having said th...

wAP ac or NetMetal ac²?

Hi All, I am currently planning the WiFi setup for my new home. I would like to have one AP to cover the garden area which will be approx. 20 x 15 m² in size. At first I thought to use the new wAP ac, but now I found the NetMetal ac². They seem to use the same/similar hardware (except for the antenn...

Re: Auto update time [SOLVED]

Perhaps it takes a few seconds after power-up, but ntp should sync the internal clock. Of course you need to configure it, too. Wiki even mentions that there is limited ntp support without the package, but that doesn't work for me, so I recommend the ntp package.

No traffic using Intel Wireless-N 7260

Hi All, after sorting out some initial quirks here and there, I am mostly a happy camper now, proudly running my entire home network on MikroTik gear, and everything pretty much just works, except for a single (older) Lenovo IdeaPad that seems to have trouble connecting at maximum speed. It's using ...

Re: RB4011iGS+5HacQ2Hnd and 160 MHz

Thanks for your input. I wasn't asking about whether or not it makes sense to use 160 MHz channel width at the moment. (It probably doesn't, and I am aware of that.) However, I assume that I would actually be able to "see" a 160 MHz channel in a real spectrum analyzer, but I do not have on...

Re: Issues with CaspMan switching from AP to AP

Sounds like your clients are somehow locked to an AP (through channel and/or MAC) once they've successfully established a connection with it. As the Mikrotik access lists generally work as expected, can you change the clients' config? What are your clients, anyhow?

Re: Yet another DHCP to DNS script

Okay, so I noticed that with my change, only leases that have their own lease-time set will be created in the DNS cache, so please use this instead: /ip dhcp-server lease :set ttl [ get [ find address=$leaseActIP ] lease-time ] :if ( [ :len $ttl ] <= 0 ) do={ /ip dhcp-server :set ttl [ get [ find na...

Re: RB4011iGS+5HacQ2Hnd and 160 MHz

5500 is out of the question, unfortunately, as there seems to be radar on the upper half of that range, so it won't start up claiming that radar has been detected. For the country, I have tried both etsi as well as Germany (which is where I currently live), again both with indoor and any installatio...

RB4011iGS+5HacQ2Hnd and 160 MHz

Hi All, I have been using the above RB for a couple of weeks now and am generally and genuinely happy with its performance. It's my main router and CAPsMAN for three other hAP ac. I am currently trying to set it up as a wireless AP with 160 MHz bandwidth, and that is where I struggle. Now, I have to...

Re: Yet another DHCP to DNS script

Good script! The only issue I had with it is that it will automatically assume the same lease-time for all (even static) leases, which might not be the case, so I changed /ip dhcp-server :set ttl [ get [ find name=$leaseServerName ] lease-time ] network to /ip dhcp-server lease :set ttl [ get [ find...

Re: hAP ac2 and hEX S configuration/setup problems

Whether you realize it or not: Mikrotik devices are fairly complicated to configure - at least if you have never used them before. I'd definitely recommend starting small, just set up the hEX S and see if it works (if you can access the internet when connecting a PC to it via cable. Then add the nex...

Re: RB4011

Just got my RB4011, and I can confirm that SFP+ works very well with passive DAC. Of course I didn't use the Mikrotik cable. ;) iperf shows around 800 MB/s against my NAS, so I'd say it actually works. Also, I didn't see any flapping.

Re: WebFig UI sometimes incomplete

Alright, I see. Thx!

I'm mostly running on non-Windows machines, so WinBox is not a good option for me. Of course I use SSH, but once in a while WebFig UI is what I want to use.

I guess the next release will be out in a few weeks, so hopefully that'll be fixed then.

WebFig UI sometimes incomplete

Hi All, after using my two RBs for a few weeks now, I notice that every once in a while the WebFig UI seems not to work properly. To be more precise, I will only see the "Interfaces" page after login, but there is no menu visible on the left side. Also, the top right mode will show "Q...

Alright, looks like that was the issue! I had actually assumed that MikroTik would automatically "know" that it shouldn't go below channel 1, but apparently it doesn't and will somehow favor eC against Ce. Setting it to eC (fixed) will still show the same problem whereas choosing Ce does m...

Hi All, after finally acquiring two RB hap ac (used), I have set them up as access points in my home. Following best practice, I wanted to set one to use wifi channel 1 and the other to wifi channel 11. After doing so, I found that I could no longer "see" the network on channel 1 using bot...

Re: v6.42rc [release candidate] is released!

Is it normal that installing 6.42rc24 does not correctly create a bootable system disk when used on x86 hardware? Comes up with "no OS found" or such. 6.42rc15 was just fine in that respect.

Cheers
