Re: Capsman manager not a router - VLANs

Well it does not work. If I turn on local forwarding with vlan tag I do not get IP from Ubiquiti. If I do local forwarding + no tag I get IP from cap router (as expected). Might be because the caps are routers with NATting, not a APs? ADDED LATER: Yup, tested with cap in bridge mode it works. So now...

Capsman manager not a router - VLANs

Hi, Small problem that I'm trying to overcome. I usually use Mikrotik that acts as a router (NATting, DHCP etc) as well as CapsMan manager and with this scenario my setups always work. Right now I have a scenario were unifi gateway is the main device and a mikrotik router connected on LAN side acts ...

Re: caps error - "removing stale connection" since 6.49.x [SOLVED]

Not sure if this will somehow help but I have the same issues at CCR1009 all the CAPs are disconnecting when the load is too big. That only happens on big installations with a few hundreds of CAPs. The only solution from Mikrotik support was to get a separate ARM machine (4011 was suggested) to run ...

Is there any way to perform a factory reset of a Mikrotik via UI and not lose the ability to access it remotely?

1:1 NATting of /29 subnet

Hello, This looks easy on paper but it gives me a headache. An ISP gives a /29 subnet. Let's say 1.1.1.1/29 is a GW and port eth1 in my Mikrotik has an IP 1.1.1.2/29. Ports eth2,3,4,5 are LAN network with multiple devices connected. I would like two of them (10.0.0.7,10.0.0.8 ) to use other IPs from...

Re: v6.48.2 [stable] is released!

Has anything changed in this release with handling of CapsMan?
I have a rule
add action=accept chain=input dst-port=5246,5247 protocol=udp
which since 6.48.2 has zero packets processed.
On 6.48.1 it was still working.

CapsMan still works BTW

Hi,

I'm on 6.47.3 and since upgrade all of the CAPs are getting randomly disconnected (all of them at once). It's around 400 units.
I get no errors in log. What might be the reason of all the CAPs getting disconnected (there are not disconnected in the network - the test m

Yes it was. Without any proper solution as far as I'm aware (wiping the whole system or doing netinstall is not a real solution that could be implemented with hundreds/thousands of units)

6.47.X not enough space to update

Hi, I'm managing thousands of hAP Lites which we all know have limited space. Before 6.47 the problems with upgrading were sporadically happening. These days with 6.47 I have locations where only a few % of routers will upgrade (via capsman). Most of them will just pop up an error and the only way t...

Hi there, I'm having small (I hope) issue. The situation: Mikrotik router 1 (office) - l2tp server Mikrotik router 2 (remote location behind NAT) - l2tp client The VPN gets connected, both devices getting IP from LAN DHCP pool of MK1. I can ping MK2 from MK1, can SSH from MK1 to MK2 but whatever I d...

Re: Capsman provisioning speed

OK maybe it's not correct what I'm saying. They are provisioned but it takes 5s per CAP to have active WiFi.
Not sure what's going on during this time, checking best WiFi channel?

One way or another it's done one by one - that's why it takes so much time.

Re: Capsman provisioning speed

No, no errors. And it's not only one location.

Provisioning of one Cap takes ~5s. That gives us 12 per minute and 720 per hour. So with my locations having around 500 of them it's 40min to provision all of them.
That's A LOT of down time...

Capsman provisioning speed

Hi, Is there a way to make provisioning of Caps faster? I'm using CCR1009 and if I make any change in location with ~ 400-500 Caps it takes 30-45min to re-provision all of them. During that time they are idle. Why does it take so long? It's not the CCR1009 CPU, it's always on few % tops. Looking for...

Re: Dual dynamic ISP WAN, dual LAN setup

To be honest, I was just saying that if you find some nice dual-WAN config you like, and it's made with static addresses, it's not a deal breaker, because you can use lease scripts to change config dynamically. Otherwise I don't enjoy multi-WAN configs very much and I tend to stay away. I also don'...

Re: v6.45.7 [stable] is released!

I'm using CapsMan to upgrade all the nodes in the network. It's quite common that some of them fail to upgrade and the old firmware is left in its memory. If the memory is full this is not letting the nod to upgrade. The only workaround is to log in manually to it and remove the files. Maybe it's wo...

Re: VLANs with "stacked" switches

No. /interface vlan is a pipe whose one end is connected to the underlying interface and receives and sends tagged frames, and its other end is an interface itself which sends and receives tagless frames. The pipe just cares about tagging and untagging. So if you have, say, /interface vlan name=vla...

Any and all of the IP configuration for each VLAN, including /ip dhcp-server, has to be attached to the tagless sides of the /interface vlan in this case.
Taggless meaning one of untagged ports, correct? If so that's not possible since they are a slave ports

I imagine you're either running in the per-VLAN based mode or do not have STP correctly running.
