Re: New High Performance Routers ! ?

I think if there is one thing to be offloaded to specific hw, it has to be Connection Tracking. I dont know if it is possible but it is the most resource consuming thing in RouterOS. Apart from that, I think Mikrotik should ditch this Tilera stuff and come up with new hardware based on x86-64 or ARM...

Re: New High Performance Routers ! ?

We are already getting 18gbit with RAW table populated for our public IPs not participating in conn.track table. Also with fast-track rules. There is not much to do in terms of configuration. Re: New High Performance Routers ! ?

We are passing 9Gbit/s on the uplink. So it makes 18Gbit/s RX/TX traffic as total inside the router all interfaces combined. Router only does NAT and nothing else. We had to use the "raw" filter to decrease the CPU utilisation. Without "raw" some cores were stuck at %100. We are not sure what is the...

Re: Running IPv6 on Mikrotik? You're out of business in 12 days time

If its not fixed by now, it is probably kernel level.
I think MT usually reacts quite fast to security patches etc.. If this one is not patched for 50 weeks time, than there has to be something in the old linux kernel preventing it.
Just a guess..

Bloat-ware ?

Are you kidding me ?

We have LCD, SMB etc which are completely useless to %99 of the people and the most useful tool after PING will make it a bloatware ?

If MT is smart enough, they would listen their customers and implement it right away.

clicking on interface>ethernet from winbox in v6.0rc6 on RB800+RB616 makes the winbox quit and it creates a autosup file. There is no way you can see interface>ethernet from winbox. winbox shuts down automatically.

Basically this would be the same as you looking at packet sniffer. There is just too many type of packets that can be dropped. It could be more or less something simple. Aggregating them into IPv4, IPv6, Other protocol, Driver related drops would be sufficient. This way it would be easier to differ...

That pdf is pretty much outdated. Bridging stuff with eoip is the thing of the past. You need a routed design (seperate concetrators) and/or MPLS (if you want to use a single PPP concentrator)
