cannot resolve device name from snmp oid
snmpwalk returns the right name under .0.8802.1.1.2.1.3.3.0
doesn't anyone use device name discover feature, or is this function working properly for you??

This is available only in 3.0. Not exactly sure but I think this command resets mac address to defaults, too.
This function is also available in 2.9.48 but it does.... nothing...

The RB44G has 4 ethernet interfaces who's MAC addresses should be sequentially numbered. If you only changed it on on one of them you should easily be able to figure it out by looking at the MAC of other other interfaces. It is important to prioritize VoIPs on DSL lines. It's impossible now, for applications, that uses various ports (skype). It would be nice to be able detect these flows and prioritize (like another filtres for Linux can do this).

I would bridge the wlans and create simply queue for bridge interface or mark traffic from/to all wlan interfaces and create queue tree (one element for each flow - interface) with parent of 1,5M. I talk about 2.9, I'm not sure is it possible in 2.8 - I do not use it for shaping.

It will not work with MT correctly. ECMP is not connection orientated :( If you use proxy, it will not work at all without special policy routing scripting (described somewher in this forum), but proxy will use only one gateway. Use policy routing.

I do use dns cache too and I didn't had configured these entries before your post. Did I configured everything, that you mean? I'll check once again, if was it helpfull, but today two customers called me with DNS problem again. I'll verify these calls on monday.

Hi folks,


The only solution for this, that I know, is to give users different subnet addresses, so they will go through nat and then they could be traffic shaped etc...
I'm not sure, that we talk about the same, but hotspot service do it for you "out of the box"...

THx for you reply, but I really want to avoid to use DHCP... Then do not use dhcp ... If you are using manual static IP , you can also set netmask to 255.255.255.255 ;-). To test , i just now set my linux workstation netmask to /32 . Now i can access other computers in same lan only via gateway ......

I have created two parallell rules for the same flow (p2p) - one for a night, one for a day. But MT ingores time rules - the flow is thru the "night" rule all the day. How should I configure IT or is it a bug??

now I have 100% again - after 15 minuts of working without changeing anything. 25 users online. CPU - Duron 700, 512M RAM, bandwidth 2x2Mbit max (current real bandwidth about 2x512k), no wireless cards.

hmm... I found that the problem occours when CPU load is 100%... So question is why cpu load was today 100% 2 times (even couple of hours, only reboot fixes it), when after reboot the load is between 5 and 10 %? anyone see the same?

there are no keys with no upgrade time. if you pay for a key, you can upgrade the software for one year
