The problem is the dude cant find the font it wants to use on the label so its not displaying anything. I forgot what font it was but i did fix this problem at one point in my life before i switched to windows.
I'd betcha a beer its the telnet service. With our waverider brand end user and ap systems if telnet was monitored the telnet server on them would eventually crash (were talking a matter of hours here not weeks) making the device not accessible until reboot. Although your example is more dramatic it...
Ive been requested by someone i work with to have the dude monitor a specific web page on a web server. The http probe seems to be affecting the index page all i know at the moment is suspending http monitoring fixed some problem. Is there a way to modify the http probe so that it wouldnt be request...
I dont know if you did this but you have to make sure the dude server is turned off because if you shut off the computer while the server is running it may corrupt the database. Its happened to me a couple times.
I had an email address with email@server.domain.com i had to set up another email address have the dude send to that and that then forward to the complex mail address. This is a simple bug and should get cleared up.
A DNS server does not care and can not determine if a device is up.. its only job is to take name and give you ip address and then you can do anything you want with this ip address but that is not enough for you? I am confused.
the 2.2 web server often decided to stop at random intervals when i used 2.2 only fix is to restart the web server by either rebooting the machine, stopping and starting the dude service or in the settings turn off the web server apply it and turn it back on.
I dont actualy understand how snmp trap notifications work but i think the dude cant use them. when the dude uses snmp it asks for the information then gets it the dude is never just waiting for info out of the blue. Unless you are using the beta with integrated syslog server. Then it can receive sy...
How long have you been trying this? I had similar problems with some MIB files I added to the dude. I experienced client lockup and high cpu load on the server itself end result for me was i just had to let the dude chew on them for a while and even after the initial load on the server it still took...
I had the lost map problem with 2.2 i havent had that perticular problem in 3 although other little issues have come up with 3. Ya win some and lose some. Your best off to take notes on what youve got and just redo things if they get lost or damaged.
Only time i experienced something like this was due to the fact that my client was also running a server and the two were interacting for some reason generating a lot of traffic i shut down the server (green light up top) on the client end and bandwidth dropped. but the bandwidth was less during my ...
Hi i noticed an odd off by one error that seems to be generating garbage data. Im using the speak function in the new dude beta and on some devices it throws in at the end an extra character after the alert. I think the extra character (sometimes # or ? or something else random) is being added to wh...
I would like to try and avoid discovering the device capabilities, because we use it merely to watch for stations dropping out or becoming unstable. I don't think that nine people at our office want to be notified when SSH or Telnet is out of touch via the device........ You could set custom notifi...
Can you check to see if it is the same glitch i described here http://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=18698 try removing all services and seeing what it shows for in the pie chart area. there has to be a glitch in the way this data is saved so the only thing you can really do is delete an...
the crash is 'only' on the client end and monitoring is continued im simply saying removing all services gets you back into the device if you have settings or data you want to write down and you would need to remove the device completely and re add it to avoid the particular glitch i am encountering...
Ive got some potentialy helpfull info on debuging this. I in the services window removed the services from a device doing this. This allowed me to it opened fine except it shows 4.29G unknown services and 1 unstable service. The services tag shows empty and the device status shows unknown. I figure ...
you could use windows file encryption maybe. I mean hey at least we know its plain text so we can plan for it. As you said if you can touch the box you can own the box so keep the server room locked
Get a better internet provider? Joking. You need to set the dude up to watch something that will prove your internet is working. Like set up your dns server with a lookup to mikrotik.com as the only service and say name it office internet. Then go to all the client routers and set them to have a par...
Hi, i was motivated by this thread to implement bandwidth warnings for our smart switches, I got it to generate an alert if the port used 9Mbps of traffic for a period of 10 minutes. Is this what you were looking to do?
I knew you were going to say that! With respect to any customers out there I think this process would be too complicated I think it would be cool if we could include a separate configuration file that included these things (username password server) and also I am very interested in having the ...
Hi, I think it would be cool to have a tool for customers to check their speed within our network but from what i have seen other companies solutions are expensive and are not that impressive. I was thinking it would be very cool if MikroTik could make a customer version of btest.exe that would be l...
Its not a matter of notification as it is detection just set the probe interval to be 5 minutes and the down count to be 6 that will get you a 30 minute window before considered down.
Good to get ya going again. Its a recurring annoyance but I have no solution for it because i like the feature. I dont think its worth the time for the program to remember the last viewed service for every device.
as i said i am sure im not using this feature correctly. I set up a notification of type 'execute on server' and in the white box i put in 'msdos based command i want'
if your executing on the server you have to type in the absolute path of whatever you are doing and if i recall it will execute from the root directory i could be wrong there. So i have batch files i uploaded remotely and i have a notification that executes on server c:\progra~1\dude\data\files\test...
Agreed that unknown objects is a beta problem (running current) i think it happened to me last when i shut down the server unexpectedly. And on mine when i did it it was because of devices not having a map.
You could create a static object with no name oval set to grey that would get you around some corners. You could even repeat to create a very blocky circle!
whats the address? I have noticed dude does not like non traditional email addresses like xxx@yyy.zzzzz.com i had to send to another email address and forward to the address the dude thought was invalid.
Another possible feature request to address this issue is a scheduler similar to the notification scheduler and the device lists as unknown when its not scheduled to probe it that (could) be simple maybe. But anyway a hack to get you out of this is to create a special notification that wont notify y...
I admit to not fully reading all the posts i was having this problem with the client (open settings hang and crash) and i fixed it by running the program off my local hard drive instead of running the client off a network drive. I have no idea if this will be helpful to anyone.
Most of my custom snmp polls fail by timeout if the device is actualy down i sorta hate (feature request!) that if ping is down i get notified about rssi being down also. I think i have seen cpu stay up on a device thats down. What you could do if you were having problems like this is set up one dev...
