The problem is the dude cant find the font it wants to use on the label so its not displaying anything. I forgot what font it was but i did fix this problem at one point in my life before i switched to windows. :lol:

I'd betcha a beer its the telnet service. With our waverider brand end user and ap systems if telnet was monitored the telnet server on them would eventually crash (were talking a matter of hours here not weeks) making the device not accessible until reboot. I dont know if you did this but you have to make sure the dude server is turned off because if you shut off the computer while the server is running it may corrupt the database. Its happened to me a couple times.

I had an email address with email@server.domain.com i had to set up another email address have the dude send to that and that then forward to the complex mail address. This is a simple bug and should get cleared up.

A DNS server does not care and can not determine if a device is up.. its only job is to take name and give you ip address and then you can do anything you want with this ip address but that is not enough for you? :lol: I am confused.

the 2.2 web server often decided to stop at random intervals when i used 2.2 only fix is to restart the web server by either rebooting the machine, stopping and starting the dude service or in the settings turn off the web server apply it and turn it back on.

[Device.Name] is [Device.Status] in [Device.NetMaps]

Is my standard subject to a notification email. netmaps substitutes in the map the device is on.

You could put whatever information you wanted in one of the three custom fields and display it in the notification by calling [Device.CustomField1]

The only way i know of is the painfull way... a custom function and probe for each su you want to monitor.

How long have you been trying this? I had similar problems with some MIB files I added to the dude. I experienced client lockup and high cpu load on the server itself end result for me was i just had to let the dude chew on them for a while and even after the initial load on the server it still took...

I had the lost map problem with 2.2 i havent had that perticular problem in 3 although other little issues have come up with 3. Ya win some and lose some. Your best off to take notes on what youve got and just redo things if they get lost or damaged.

the crash is 'only' on the client end and monitoring is continued im simply saying removing all services gets you back into the device if you have settings or data you want to write down and you would need to remove the device completely and re add it to avoid the particular glitch i am encountering...

Ive got some potentialy helpfull info on debuging this. I in the services window removed the services from a device doing this. This allowed me to it opened fine except it shows 4.29G unknown services and 1 unstable service. The services tag shows empty and the device status shows unknown. I figure ...

Hi, i was motivated by this thread to implement bandwidth warnings for our smart switches, I got it to generate an alert if the port used 9Mbps of traffic for a period of 10 minutes. Is this what you were looking to do?

Its not a matter of notification as it is detection just set the probe interval to be 5 minutes and the down count to be 6 that will get you a 30 minute window before considered down.

How are you running your client? I had this problem when i was running the client off a network drive i moved the program local and it stopped.

Good to get ya going again. Its a recurring annoyance but I have no solution for it because i like the feature. I dont think its worth the time for the program to remember the last viewed service for every device.

if your executing on the server you have to type in the absolute path of whatever you are doing and if i recall it will execute from the root directory i could be wrong there. Agreed that unknown objects is a beta problem (running current) i think it happened to me last when i shut down the server unexpectedly. And on mine when i did it it was because of devices not having a map.

Another possible feature request to address this issue is a scheduler similar to the notification scheduler and the device lists as unknown when its not scheduled to probe it that (could) be simple maybe. I admit to not fully reading all the posts i was having this problem with the client (open settings hang and crash) and i fixed it by running the program off my local hard drive instead of running the client off a network drive. I have no idea if this will be helpful to anyone.

Most of my custom snmp polls fail by timeout if the device is actualy down i sorta hate (feature request!) that if ping is down i get notified about rssi being down also. Does the dude ever or eventualy see that the router is down or is it missing the outage during the reboot totaly?

Its probably timing related, have the dude check the router's on the network more often or have the down count lower on the routers.
