Special Character Support

Hi, I have searched and searched and I have not been able to find a answer yet so I was hoping maybe someone around here knows where I can find a list of unsupported special characters or is there a way that I need to escape them to be used. I noticed if I wanted to say use an $ in a password that i...

Re: L2TP with private ip from DHCP Server Connection Problems [SOLVED]

In my previous post I said maybe I should of used a 2 instead of a 1, this was the answer. I went back and adjusted the registry and I was able to connect successfully. This link was in the thread that you originally posted as well which im placing here in case anyone follows behind and reads this t...

Re: L2TP with private ip from DHCP Server Connection Problems [SOLVED]

I actually did not mean to leave their public address exposed. That was a mistake on my bad. There is no odd setup here its straight forward. a remote person using my.pubip.1 connects to a server pub.ip.1 and thats pretty much it. I am dumbfounded at the moment if mikrotik cant handle l2tp in this m...

Re: L2TP with private ip from DHCP Server Connection Problems [SOLVED]

Hi, I believe the problem is related to some natting somewhere or lack thereof but this is just a guess. I have verified that directly using a static or public ip address in the rb3011 the vpn works. I put the router behind a natted device and it fails pulling a private address and it fails. modem >...

Re: L2TP with private ip from DHCP Server Connection Problems [SOLVED]

I added the logging you had mentioned. I gave the router a fresh reboot and when I logged in and looked I noticed the following things right out the gate one with an error on 500 10:56:35 ipsec, debug 0.0.0.0[500] used as isakmp port (fd=25) 10:56:35 ipsec, debug 0.0.0.0[4500] used as isakmp port with...

Re: L2TP with private ip from DHCP Server Connection Problems [SOLVED]

You've written a lot in your OP but you've also left out a lot. So do I guess properly that the 3011 getting a private WAN address from a NATing router is the L2TP/IPsec server and the L2TP/IPsec client that fails to connect is the Windows embedded VPN client? If so, see this topic . Hi, Yes the RB...

Re: L2TP with private ip from DHCP Server Connection Problems [SOLVED]

I updated to 6.48.4 stable as I saw ipsec - fixed SA address parameter exporting; in the change log. Still same results. I read through https://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=132823 which is a lot and it sounds similar to my problem but in this it indicates they are getting at least 1 co...

L2TP with private ip from DHCP Server Connection Problems [SOLVED]

Howdy, The topic may be confusing and I apologize for that. Currently if I use a public static ip address or I pull a public ip address via a dhcp client I can connect to the site and everything works well. However, if my device is behind a modem or another router that is routing and handing out pri...

Re: crs317-1g-16s-rm Fault LED

So this is not the issue. Anyone know how to track down the issue in swOS there appears to be a serious lack of any logging or documentation.

Re: crs317-1g-16s-rm Fault LED

It would appear that may be the issue. I connected up the secondary PSU and the fault light has not returned.

crs317-1g-16s-rm Fault LED

Hi, I have been looking around and I can not seem to find any documentation on what the Fault LED is indicating. Currently I am using a new crs317-1g-16s-rm and it is in swOS mode. The red fault light turns on at some point but I am unsure as to why. I do not see any logs or my searches have not yie...

Re: RouterOS 5.2 to Current [SOLVED]

Hi, Thank you for the reply. I think I found this same solution last night. I ended up using the /system package update> check-for-updates and this went to 6.40.8 and then ran the command again and it brought it to current. I am really kicking myself for not knowing about this option sooner as it ap...

it looks like using the 5.26 version on the archives was not a bug fix version or something as the same problems occur.

Re: Is RouterOS Blocking VPN? (Noob In need)

Do I need to set up anything in the ipsec area of the router if I am not actually using the router to connect to the client. I would like to just connect my Linux pc to my company hosted vpn server. Again I am not looking to connect my router as the client or connect directly to another router that...

The scenario is as follows Company vpn hosted on a windows 2012 server. L2TP with PSK (I know I know). My goal is to connect to their vpn server. I am ...

RouterOS 5.2 to Current [SOLVED]

Hi, I have many routers that are in need of updating most range from 5.20 to 5.26 and I would like to bring them to current remotely. Is there any known issues that people have come across trying to complete this. I ask because when I loaded an npk file on to a RB2011 and rebooted it bricked. I woul...
