Re: CHR tx-queue-drops-per-second

if you want to run your router in VM, its highly recommended to use PCI-passthru for passing the whole NIC to the VM.

SR-IOV is great - unless you want to have quite a big traffic - since it can do only 1 or 2 rxtx-queue per port, while the X520DA-2 NIC can have like 64 or 128 queues per port.

probably the card doing some strange PCI init thing - what causes the machine to crash or forces reboot. Re: CHR supported hardware interface list?

I'm planning to build a VM server then put CHR on it among other things. 1. Would it be better to have hardware interfaces as PCIE passthrough, or bridged via virtio? PCI Passthru is a way faster solution for VM networking. With bridging - every packet needs at least 2 CPU cycle (one in host, one i...

If there is ever revision 2 of this card, adding optional external power (either jack or POE or internal connector) would help. That way it would be possible to run it at all times, no matter what's the state of PC. Or even use it as a "router on a stick" like some users tried (and fried)...

I would strongly advise against OpenVPN on Mikrotik for the above reasons. Performance is very poor with TCP-in-TCP, see http://sites.inka.de/bigred/devel/tcp-tcp.html for explanations.

Have a try with same kind! NV2 has issues with ethernet sync if CPE is capable of GE and 'puter is FE or vice versa.

hello, if you have no interference and nearby clients (no more than 20-30) you can even start with omni antenna. efaden: well, the port bridging (and filtering) can be done at CPU or switch-chip.

My question was: do the switch chip capable of port trunk group (aka bonding) with LACP?
of course, i wish to use ASIC in switch instead of, since the CPU is definitely NOT capable of bonding 2xGigE.

Re: Wireless stops transmitting

sadly i have to report, that 5.23 does NOT fix the NV2 lockup issue.
all but 1 clients running 5.23 (the remaining 1 is running 5.18)

turn off/on script do the trick. hey Mikrotik, Go On with it! (at least do wireless restart inside the protocol if no transmission is detected for a bunch of frames!)

Re: Wireless stops transmitting

maybe 5.23 not 4.23 as you see above, in the first times, my AP was rebooted (or stopped) with 5.22 - and now working well since 6d3h (thas is a longest uptime client, since ap reboot). So it should be now hardware problem. Since the ROS 5.23 (rc) is not public and sent us within a week, i cannot te...

Re: Wireless stops transmitting

Script is installed, but the wireless card is up for 5days 2hrs (411AH, running ROS 5.22). What is strange, the longest uptime client (5days 2hrs) is a non N client. the rest are: 1d 17h 17h24m 1h37m 1h24m 1h8m 1h3m 52m 22m 20m 16m On AP side: control frame timeout logged on client: lost connection,...

Re: AP: 5GHz only-N - Client without N support can connect

Arnold: the problem is
- AP running 5ghz N-only mode
- N-incompatible client (like R52 or R5H) can connect to in A mode

The client not in A/N mode, since hardware NOT supports N, so that mode is NOT offered.

Re: Wireless stops transmitting

Ohara: there are 3 pcs of 411AH on the toughswitch. It can provider 5x12W i think, 411AH + wireless does not eats more than 8-10W The support responded to replace/re-netinstall. I also can confirm it's an NV2 issue. It's just happened on another AP what has 3 wlan cards. 2 of 3 are nstreme, p2p the ...

Re: AP: 5GHz only-N - Client without N support can connect

Uldis: please explain.
only-N does not (should) means, that only N can connect to?

As i mentioned, those clients are NOT N compatible. How they can connect to an N-only AP ???
i think the only answer is "N-only" does not (really) means N only...

Re: Wireless stops transmitting

this should not be a power issue. Just seen on a very stable AP, what has 3 cards. 2 running nstreme (p2p) one sector with NV2.

so i bet this IS as NV2 issue.

AP: 5GHz only-N - Client without N support can connect

Hello,
I have an RB411AH set as AP. 2x2 MIMO card inside, set to 5ghz-N only mode.
How is it possible that simple R52 card can connect to???
I can understand it can work with A/N, but N only???

Re: RouterBoard CCR 1036 vs 1100AH(prototype) and 1100AHx2

no, sadly did not checked individual cores. I had to give back the testing unit. But when one of my other friend got delivered his one, we would make another test for that. However, you know that current firmware version does not do balancing for firewall between cores so maybe i even could not test...

RouterBoard CCR 1036 vs 1100AH(prototype) and 1100AHx2

Hello, i've made a small comparision against the units above. Scenario: two HP servers (DL380G5 and DL380G6) connecting with a single gigabit. doing iperf between them (~950mbps one way or 930+850mbps two way) Routerboard put into the middle as a bridge with and without bridge firewall/conntrack/sim...

I would afraid of traffic and not the routes.
440k routes should eat no more than few hundred megs of RAM.

Re: Wireless stops transmitting

Ohara: right. finding the problem is more important than finding a workaround. What i tought is make a script what check the tx packets five to ten times in a row (between few second diff). Log them all, and if sum is 0, than disable/enable. Maybe you have better idea? Power supply is a UBNT Toughsw...

Wireless stops transmitting

Hello Guys, I'm interested if anyone run into this issue: Wireless card stops transmission (counter stable stays on 0), but receiving works. If i disable/enable the wireless card, datas flow again. It happened with: RB411AH, ROS5.18 and 5.22 (this board reboots with kernel failure as well, few times...
