Re: Winbox on Linux?

You need to install wine package to your system. You can find the appropriate package and instalation manual here: http://www.winehq.org/ . Install it, then download winbox.exe from any of your router and save it in your home directory (or somewhere else if you wish, for example in /usr/local/bin/ )....

Re: 3.6 still doesn't work Properly on x86 ?

I would hope that with 1500 customers you are testing these things before you roll them into production ; ) Sure, I do that :) And I always have a spare flash-disk with preconfigured OS before upgrade. But I can't test new version on every hardware type we use in production netwotk. Our customers a...

Re: 3.6 still doesn't work Properly on x86 ?

Make sure you put in a supout to Mikrotik, at support@mikrotik.com! Very VERY VERY important! I tried to make supout. Of course, I'd be glad to help developers to investigate this issue, but I was unable to make this file. I spent 5 minutes waiting for router, until it generates this file, but with...

Re: 3.6 still doesn't work Properly on x86 ?

Beware of 3.7! 3.6 was bad and buggy, but 3.7 is even worse! I've just upgraded one of my x86 routers to 3.7 and got CPU load 100%. The traffic was about 40-50 Mbps instead of usual 200-250 Mbps. After entering username and password from local console MT banner appeared on display in moment, ...

Re: Winbox on Linux?

So when you're running winbox on linux, do you call it LinBox? :D
no, you call it winbox in disguise :)
But if you wish, you can call it linbox :)
echo "alias linbox='/usr/bin/wine ~/winbox.exe'" >> ~/.bashrc

Re: 3.6 still doesn't work Properly on x86 ?

I've upgraded two x86 machines from 2.9.51 to 3.6. Both machines crashed after some hours of normal operation. After reset both routers went up for some hours and crashed again. CPUs on these routers are Intel Core Duo. After setting /system hardware multi-cpu=no the problem was solved and both rout...

I have installed some MTs on intel-based systems with P4 CPU and I had trouble with system hanging up at the average CPU load. The solution was to disable Enhanced C1 control, Intel SpeedStep Technology and Hyper-Threading Technology in BIOS. Now everything runs perfectly.

And anyway, I suggest admins to keep the latest proven to work versions locally. Twice I've run into situation when some routers refuse to start after upgrade, and the only way to recover it was to downgrade from archive. One of this failures leaved me without access to Internet at all.

I hold an archive of many versions since 2.8.13. This archive helped me a lot of times in different situations.

actually we are also preparing an open API for configuration of the router, so you can develop your own applications that connect to the router and configure/control it. this is not connected to SNMP but i guess you will also like that COOL! :) This is a really cool thing I need in RouterOS! Mustek UPS support

Hi, It could be great to see a support for Mustek PowerMust UPSes to RouterOS with ability to read all the data from UPS via SNMP and send SNMP-traps about all power-related events. European rule for DST

Hi,
It could be nice to add a European (and Latvian too :)) DST rule into /system clock dst, just a simple function like this:
day of start: (31 - (5 * yyyy / 4 + 4) mod 7) March
day of end: (31 - (5 * yyyy / 4 + 1) mod 7) October
where yyyy - current year between 2000 and 2099.

We don't need any software, we need to know what hardware we need to support. To add the support we need to check that out if it works or not. It depends on what options do you want to use on bonding interface. I set up a bonding interface to back-up a link to my provider. For automated administration tasks I use perl script, that logins into router via SSH, sends console commands and returns the RouterOS responses back to the script. This solution works fine for me and is more safe than http. This idea I picked somewhere on this forum.

Hi, jober There is a label on a power supply, that comes with a MT router: max length of a Ethernet+Power cable - 60 m (~180 feet). I think the problem can be here. Try to use a separate 2x0.75 sq.mm. or thicker cable to deliver 48VDC to the router instead of using PoE. There is a separate jack on a...
