Re: Map lite as universal travel router

I've added a connect list with several mostly frequently used ssids and it solves the problem of auto switching between known networks. For unknown networks I use lan-to-usbc adapter on my android phone. So the last thing is to enable automated switch between eth and wlan1, when Internet cable is a...

Re: Map lite as universal travel router

Map lite has 1 ETH port and 1 WLAN interface. If both are WAN, you can configure the router ONLY if WLAN 2 (virtual interface) is up and running. As WLAN1 is STA mode, it will look for SSID on each radio channel continuously. If it finds it, the slave interface WLAN2 (only LAN interface in this setu...

Re: Map lite as universal travel router

To make that work, don't forget you have to disable firewall on WAN. Else problem is, if both ETH and WLAN 1 are WAN and you have a firewall, you will not be able to configure the device The WLAN2 interface will only be visible when WLAN 1 is connected to an AP. For instance you have set WLAN1 up fo...

Re: SD Card Uses

Ext. memory on all Mikrotik devices is primarily for data bases of RouterOS, logs, skins for hotspot etc.
It is not for SMB or NAS purpose, as its not fast nor has ROS the services to do that.

If you don't know what you could use it within ROS then you won't need it.

You have the byte counters per rule and the log. That all there is to see if a rule is matched! Between the first "accept" rule and the last "drop all" you will need to refine the rules to capture/identify the traffic you are searching... What you can do is put "drop all&quo...

First of all question is if your LAN and BRIDGE set up as well as IP is all correct. But what is definitely wrong is the route setup.... ;-) What you have is that EVERYTHING goes out to PPPOE1! You can do what ever you want with any Mikrotik device.
Only limitation is map lite is 2.4G only device. But you can do a MESH network with it.

Will it be exactly what you need, that I don't know... depends on your use case and performance needs

What Mikrotik AP model do you use, and what SW version?

Settings are normally kept after reboot/power cycling, but on R7 this seems not to be fully true.

Another thing could be you have a boot script that overwrites original settings. (but I guess you would be aware of that...?)

Re: LTE dropouts

You show firmware v20 in your log. Latest one is V25. Do following: /interface lte> firmware-upgrade number: 0 installed: R11e-LTE6_V025 latest: R11e-LTE6_V025 After typing after number "0", you should see dialog asking you for FW update. You need to press Y to confirm update.

Re: Windows 10 hotspot clients consuming all the bandwidth

First thing is to limit the per-user bandwidth in your hot spot. So when they share, they have nothing themselves remaining... :-) Second thing is more an idea, I don't know if this can work nor if ROS has the feature set to do it... In Mikrotik wiki LTE page there is mentioning that TTL value gets ...

Re: Restrict access based on MAC for certain time

1.) Create specific LAN subnet for those clients you want to apply the limitatin on. THis then allows you to just use the IP address and add it into an time-out address list. (using MAC is less flexible as you can not create lists to be used in firewall). 2.) create firewall rule in forward chain in...

Re: Routing between 2 local networks [SOLVED]

According to your firewall nothing blocks any LAN communication. You should be able to do what you want (L3 communication between devices). Except if you have some hotspot isolation feature (which I am not familiar with). But as I said, your choice of IP is buggy. And you have no protection/seperati...

If you are able to connect to Audience at least the Wifi does work. Well done! Better use webfig than iOS. in Webfig, use "quick set" and select "HOME AP". I would suggest you just reset the box again, and once connected afterwards you check if internet is working before doing an...

What speed could I expect from this modem? I am getting 20/10 M while the same SIM card is getting 150/50 inside iPhone. Yes this is what you can probably expect. Iphone is a multi 100$ device while Mtik is 100+/-. The LTE modem is not the same (CAT4 inside Mtik). But keep in mind, not providing an...

Tristance, glad you are back. Personally ROS and inbox are quit complex for first time user. One thing missing and nothing works and there are too many options/things to correct. I would do: Take an export of your current config as well as a backup (backup via GUI and export via: export file=mycurre...

Re: Redundant WAN, Prefer ether1 over wlan1

Oha...now I get it. have you tried to enable "add default route" on both DHCP clients, and in the advanced tab, you put for distance "2" on the WLAN one? if that does not work, create static routes and to put as GW the interface itself instead of the IP address into your route. T...

Re: Redundant WAN, Prefer ether1 over wlan1

PS: Which ROS are you on? Have you removed all the "bonding" you mentioned earlier? Without that it will not work! You must have two GW uplinks (one on ETH1 and one on WLAN). With two different GW IP? The routes also need to go to the GW IP address! 192.168.144.254 in your route might be t...

Export tour IP/route settings.
If you have DHCP client with add dynamic route it on ETH1 and you unplug the cable it should not be reachable.
Have you put anither fixed address on ETH1?

My understanding of this option is, that it prevents "in bridge" communication. After that your router will still route L3 packets allowing clients to connect to each other. You firewall can prohibit this routing. For instance put a rule chain=forward in-interface=your-Wifi_interface out-i...

Bonding intended to connect two physical interfaces to the same other equipment and bond those links together. It is to create faster speeds over for example 1Gbps ethernet, by using two or more of them... It is kind of "one interface" afterwards. You can not use this on two outgoing (WAN)...

and then trigger a script (disable / enable) your interface.
