How to make it so users CANT change passwords in UM

Does anyone know how to make it so under the http://UM-router-ip/user users are not able to change there passwords?
I am using MT established pppoe sessions so if they change the password on the UM the MT client will not authenticate.

thanks

You can run as many pppoe-clients as you want on one interfaces even without metarouters. Just make sure that you do proper policy routing: http://www.mikrotik.com/testdocs/ros/2.9/ip/route.php I have not been able to get more than one pppoe-client working at once. UM 4 has the option "Remove all" for logs. It can be used to delete all logs at the time. In version 3 if you deleted a log, a backup was created for it - so you could make an "undo" and restore that log. That means, the space was actually cleared only either after a reboot, or ...

Re: Do you limit client distances from access point?

you can use the access list to make rules that limit signal strength. ie. users with signal below a certain threshold would not be allowed on your AP.
2009-03-25_1002.png
So this example will allow only clients with less than -80dbi to connect

it seems the 5.4ghz channels are not avalible for Brazil in 3.0

Does any one know the contry to select to make the 5.4ghz channels avalible under 3.0?

It sure would be nice to be able to use the legal channels in our contries without this dicking around.

cable length 5 meters

even with no radios in it is would not boot reliably on less than 18v.

Ive put a 5 amp lamp on the end of the power cable, it ran fine drawing all 5 amps according to the meters

as far as i can tell the MT only draws around 300-400ma

Chap or MSchap1&2

Could I easily implement ether Chap or MSchap1&2 and still have my XP or Raspppoe users authenticate? Which would be the most recommended protocol to use? How would it be done on the clent side?

Thanks

I figured this was the case but know not where to go to find the help to fix it. I would prefer to broadcast the SSID as it does a lot of free advertising for us, sounds like I need to hide it though. Most of my clients connect to our network via a cheapo bridge like the Dlink 900ap+ or the 810+ or ...

Apart from the authentication I don’t use any other security. There is also a CM9 which connects to the backbone providing access to the...

The manual said that the factory MT RB's come with the address 192.168.0.1 attached to the ether1, mine is not responding to any of the factory ip addresses, hence the mac talnet.

is there any site that you know of where i can download it?

Cheers

why not use chan 1,6,11 and .....14? then you will have no overlap.

there is a firmware "upgrade" for the Senao cards that will give you the 14th channel.

I run 3 X 120deg sectors and an omni on the same pole, works fine for me.
