Re: February Newsletter #87

Is there any news on the CRS312-4C-8XG? It was announced April 2018. :) I am so pumped up for these product but still nothing... I will keep looking for them. I know, right? It hits all the sweet spots: low end CPU for those of us that don't really need routing (to keep the cost way way down as wel...

Re: CRS312-4C-8XG, Where is it?

Is it safe to *bump*?

Also, I'm not exactly sure which forum this belongs in either.

CRS312-4C-8XG, Where is it?

So, this product was announced in April of 2018. We're coming up on a year since it's announcement.

However, I don't see it listed for sale. It is typical for Mikrotik to take a year or more to announce-than-release a product? :) If so, I'll continue to be patient.

Thanks!

Re: Does RouterOS have all functionality of SwOS? [SOLVED]

Also keep in mind that only single bridge can be hw-offloaded! If you create more bridges (for example for different VLANs or for port-isolation because it may look easier) only one bridge can be HW offloaded while rest will go through CPU which will greatly decrease the performance. Both VLAN's an...

Re: Does RouterOS have all functionality of SwOS? [SOLVED]

Yes, RouterOS has all functionality of SwOS, however some functions may be bit more complicated to set up (typically VLANs in the bridge are pain in the a** until you fully understand how it works in RouterOS). That is not really unexpected as RouterOS has significantly more functions than simple S...

Does RouterOS have all functionality of SwOS? [SOLVED]

Does RouterOS have the same switching/VLAN/LAG/PoE+/SFP+ functionality as SwOS? Can it all be completely controlled via SSH? /TL;DR I am about to purchase CRS328-24P-4S+RM switch which comes with a RouterOS Level 5 license. I have no use for the router portions though, and the CPU is quite low-power...

Re: New to SPF+: Direct Connect questions [SOLVED]

Should be as simple as that unless some odd compatibility problem arises. Those so called DA (direct attach) cables are well known standards. And they are a great solution because the passive ones consume really a tiny amount of power. They just contain a tiny microcontroller to identify themselves...

New to SPF+: Direct Connect questions [SOLVED]

Hello, first time poster. The CRS328-24P-4S+RM has 4x "SPF+" ports. The new-but-not-released CRS312-4C-8XG has 4x "SPF+" combo ports as well. Can I use some type of "Direct Connect" cable between these two switches for the 10G SPF+ connections? Being new to fiber, I am unsure of the terminology or i...
